Oh, hell yeah! I "won" that stuff too. High five! I don't outright detest IV, but it's objectively inferior in quality to earlier entries. Also, in terms of story, everything that happens after Chapter 4 of III is a pile of bullshit.Sarge wrote:I have exactly one wall scroll. It was from a contest that Konami ran for Suikoden IV. So it's that, a medallion, and a soundtrack CD. Despite the supposedly terrible quality of the game (I quite enjoyed it!), the wall scroll is cool. I put it back up years ago, though.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I actually dislike III more, but that's just me. I rank 'em II > I > V > IV > III, but I also have a pretty sizable gap between the first two and the fifth game. I did beat all the main games. If we throw Tierkreis in, I probably slide that in between V and IV, and Tactics goes to the bottom of the pile... mostly because it might be alright, but I never finished it, and y'all know I'm not really a sucker for SRPGs, just a sucker for buying SRPGs.
Well, at least I was then.

I'm confused; you're making it sound like you need to hook up your Genesis to play Genesis games. Why wouldn't your Genesis and PlayStation and SNES be hooked up at all times?BoneSnapDeez wrote:But I've reached the point where I feel that Kega Fusion is so much more practical than hooking up an actual Genesis / Sega CD, ePSXe is way more convenient than an actual PlayStation, and so on...

What you're saying here is entirely practical, and is what I do, and have done for many years. (Albeit with proper controllers and a CRT for dat authentic feeling.)BoneSnapDeez wrote:I think I'm just gonna emulate all pre-6th gen games
At the same time, this is so not-Bone, I'm thinking you're being farcical.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I always think of gaming in terms of generations. That's how I organize it all in my head.
And I haven't touched an actual Genesis or SNES (or NES) since I got the Retron 5. I was serious about the emulation thing.
Well I used to have a Genesis hooked up all the time. But generally speaking, my Genesis and Sega CD were never hooked up unless I was actually playing a Sega CD game. It's a big system-set and quite cumbersome with the two AC adapters.MrPopo wrote: I'm confused; you're making it sound like you need to hook up your Genesis to play Genesis games. Seriously tho - X'Eye is awesome because it uses one AC, it uses standard composite cables rather than some proprietary plug, it looks awesome, and if you care about such things, it has a microphone input haha.
The only drawback is that it can't handle the 32X. Not just physically - apparently if you load it up it just freezes. But there are SMS converters that fit it fine. And my understanding is that it handles import carts with ease.
I must admit tho, while I've owned two X'Eyes, I have always thought the CDX is alluring. I've heard that its lens is less reliable than the X'Eye's lens, but y'know it's small and Sega-branded and looks like a Discman. And I'm pretty sure it can utilize the 32X.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I've got a 360, PS3, and Wii hooked up to an HDTV in the living room. So that's seventh gen consoles taken care of.
In my dork cave, I've got an OG Xbox, PS2, and GameCube hooked up to a CRT. And that's sixth gen consoles taken care of.
5th gen and earlier consoles are emulated on my dork cave PC, or sometimes my laptop if I'm feeling sporty.
