The mish-mash of that hilarious arranged music with the 16-bit era sound effects is so bizarre. I can't even wrap my head around it, its all I think about when I'm playing.touchofkiel wrote:WORD. The Sega CD port is the definitive home edition. And because of the cheesy arranged soundtrack, which fits so perfectly with the game's vibe, I'm going to call it the best version of the game. Even though it's not quite arcade perfect (almost), and still with a bit of censorship... trust me, it's hard to go back to the SNES version after that.

Alright, so this got taken down off of Steam on January 3 but I made this video back in December. So uh... enjoy?
EDIT: never mind, it's back

Great review of a little known gem... though not for the weak of heart. Better stick with an emulator, because all but the hardest of hardcore will need save states... myself included. Actually planning a review of it later this month myself, though I think I need some Bionic Commando action first, just to get the right perspective.
Just picked up the Vita version (a port of that 3DS one, I think) last week. For those into collecting: the Vita game is digital only in the US, but it had a physical release in Japan. There's not much text, and Vita is region free, so... have at it. It also includes the Super Famicom original as a bonus.

I review (mostly old) games at: The Annals of Retrodom.

I agree completely, though the boss that gave me the most trouble was that robot scorpion bug thing.SNESdrunk wrote:Tuesday, February 9, 2016 - X-Kaliber 2097

So I played a little bit of 7th Saga this morning, and I think the last time I played I must've gotten really, really lucky with the random enemies I encountered. I picked Valsu this time around and I am getting annihilated. To think I thought BoF2 was on this same level of difficulty.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Still avoiding The 7th Saga I see? It's okay. Re: SNESdrunk reviews
Wait you picked Valsu to start with? Oh lordy. That's like trying to play through Final Fantasy with just white mages. Start with Kamil instead, pick up Valsu later on.
Oh, and make sure you defend before you attack.

Re: SNESdrunk reviews
It's your character choice that is doing you in, chief. Starting with a mage character is like choosing hard mode for the game. While Valsu eventually becomes god tier, he takes a LONG time to get going and in my opinion makes a much better companion character than a starter.SNESdrunk wrote:So I played a little bit of 7th Saga this morning, and I think the last time I played I must've gotten really, really lucky with the random enemies I encountered.
