Games Acquired 2016
Re: Games Acquired 2016
I have 5 PSX games and 12 PS2 games. I had a lot more PSX games but it's the one console I got rid of stuff for in high school. I think I got rid of the Twisted Metal Series, Tony Hawk, Star Wars Episode 1 games. I think at the height of my time with the system I maybe had like 12 games, so it wasn't anything to boast about.

Well...your wallet is definitely a winner if you never go down the rabbit hole of PS1 collecting.alienjesus wrote:I only have 12 PS1 games and 13 PS2 games. Do I win?

One port you don't want on the PSX, is San Francisco Rush. Yikes...
I'm extremely bummed that the arcade port on Midway Arcade Treasure vol.3 is extremely botched too. The audio is all kinds of messed up, and it doesn't seem to save things like the N64 version did, I think.

Ditch the "collector" label and you'll feel better about your collection.

That one "Panzer Dragoon Saga" level game for me on the PSX would be Valkyrie Profile. Story wise, it sounds really cool and dark from what my friends have told me, and I'm a fan of the composer. The visuals look fantastic. Looks like a homerun... but I can't justify that kind of gamble. ~$50+ is kind of the breaking point for me nowadays (and I don't buy many new games at release as well now). If I've played a game before or know I do in fact really enjoy it, then I don't mind busting out some gold bricks if necessary. But for a blind purchase and paying $50+ for something used, I don't really go that far.
I may check out 2 sometime though!

Well, at least VP got a port to the PSP. It's a lot cheaper that way. And at least the PSX version isn't running $350. Oy vey.
Re: Games Acquired 2016
That's the nice thing about the PS games is most got PSP remakes/ports or at least Digital releases.
One game I'm currently ticked at myself for not picking up years ago is .Hack Quarantine that things nearly tripled in price since 2010
. I want to complete my set since I have the other three but $100+ for a PS2 game is just crazy.

Re: Games Acquired 2016
I have relatively small libraries on quite a few things. The 4 I don't though are the NES (59+2 pirates), SNES (60+Starfox 2 bootleg), GB/GBC/GBA (102 total 35/19/48) games.
The rest I paired back mostly to bare bones or are developing (Genesis=33(38 w/6pak titles), Famicom=16, 3DS=19 and PS4=12.) N64=39 (up from 20 2 years ago) and Gamecube (20).
Oh and for some reason I never parted with my one last DS game Final Fantasy III.
I've got 364 games currently (+5 splitting out the Genesis 6pak titles.) Not including anything digital which is a lease, my 2 G&Ws, Zelda Nelsonic Watch, 2 coleco tabletops, and 17 LCD/LED games. Also not including my GoG/Steam buys too.
This is small for me, 5 years ago I had 330 NES games alone, pre-job issues over a decade ago I was into the thousands. Again more motivation for me to do as I said for the 2016 goal of buy much less, play more. I've still got some stuff I've yet to get around to other than testing and I have a sealed FF5 GBA I want to crack open but won't until I have the time and other stuff cleared out.
I still won't dodge a deal which is why I got Bubble Bobble GB for $5 yesterday and MM1 GB for $7 a couple days earlier.
May be tempted to sell off some stuff I've got still if I can get over the mental barrier of it as I don't like dust collecting. :\ It's hard to realize on some stuff you just won't use it again so it sits. Yet another motivator why I switched to other vintage/antique toys and other fun stuff like G1 Transformers to look for instead.
