Tonight's the night...

Oh yeah, going to start the first (JPN) King's Field 1.
I review (mostly old) games at: The Annals of Retrodom.

Enjoy! I love those games. Then again I will play and enjoy anything From puts out so there's that.

I need Dark Souls III in my life so bad.

How did it go? Better luck with the snakes this time?

That makes you the first person I've seen on this forum other than myself who loves King's Field. Which ones have you finished? Which is your favorite?

I am presently working on finishing King's Field III. After I beat it, I will have beaten every mainline game in the series.

As for King's Field III progress, I'm 21 hours in and just reached Prayer Hill, about to reach the end game assault on the Sealed Castle. No idea how long it will take to siege that place and kill the Cursed King though. I'm presently level 35, have 26 gold potions, and 35 dragon crystals, the complete Ichrius armor set, and Nora's samurai sword... so I think I have a smidgen of a chance at least.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

I think I'm in the last third of Megadimension Neptunia VII. Such a great game; such a great series.

Assuming affordable copies don't vanish from eBay in these next few days, the original King's Field and Fire Emblem games will be my next two purchases.

The US King's Field 1 hands down is my favorite, mostly because I remember my Mom and Dad bringing it home (being a big D&D fans) and us all playing it together. One of the first memories of the game is dying to the enemies in the water that just destroy you near the fisherman or jumping from one bridge to the other not realizing I needed to run. Good to know From still digs deep to make you feel welcome as a player. The other thing that I like about 1 is how many secrets there are. I still play the 'Press (X)' against all walls thanks to this game.

As far as played and finished, I've finished the the US King's Field 1 and 2, sadly I haven't finished 3 or even played King's Field on the PS2. I really got into the turn based jRPGs and a King's Field kinda got set to the way side. I've also got Shadow Tower on the PSOne that I want to play as well(have you played it?). The love the Souls and Souls type games really brought me back to From's earlier releases.

What did you find the most enjoyable?

Are there PC versions of any of the King's Field games?

Sword of Moonlight: King's Field Making Tool was made for Windows. It's a game design tool to enable folks to make their own KF games, though it apparently includes a full remake of the original King's Field.

>I've finished the the US King's Field 1 and 2

So you've beaten King's Field II (JPN) and King's Field III (JPN). Excellent. I'm currently working on what you're calling King's Field 2, but is actually King's Field III.

>I haven't finished 3

Ah, but you did! You just didn't know you had. What you haven't played, is the first Japanese only King's Field. It has an English fan translation available, and I recommend it strongly. ( http://ardentexhuminator.blogspot.com/2 ... eview.html )

>or even played King's Field on the PS2

Oh you're missing out if you don't play King's Field IV AKA King's Field: The Ancient City. It's still got everything you love about the KF series, except with far better graphics.

>I've also got Shadow Tower on the PSOne (have you played it?).

Not yet. I own a copy, and I also have Shadow Tower Abyss on PS2. (If you didn't know, there's a sequel to Shadow Tower on the PS2, and it does have an English fan translation.) I plan to play these this year.

I should mention, I did beat Eternal Ring, which is another From Software first person action-RPG dungeon crawler on PS2. And it's pretty good, albeit far easier than KF. (Trailer: )

>What did you find the most enjoyable?

I'd rank them like this:

King's Field IV (10/10)
King's Field III (9/10)
King's Field I (9/10)
King's Field II (8/10)
King's Field III: Pilot Style (8/10)
Eternal Ring (7/10)
(I'm looking forward to finding out how the Shadow Towers fit into that list.)

Congratulations on being a fan of King's Field sir. 8)

>Are there PC versions of any of the King's Field games?

As Ack mentioned, From Software made a PC editing tool to create King's Field PC games. Yes it comes with a remake of the first King's Field, but I have it on reliable sources saying that the remake isn't as good as the PS1 original. There are also copious KF-inspired games available other people made using the PC tool. I have not tried any of them myself because they aren't actually made by From Software. So who gives a poop not me.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
