My controller died, the Rotten then launched me into a pit of fire... Never ignore the warning.

Demon's Souls reputation for difficulty is greatly exaggerated. If you can handle Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden, you can handle Demon's Souls. (You will undoubtedly die a few times, and some of the more difficult bosses can be troublesome. The game is so much fun, however, that you won't really care.)econoemu wrote:It's about to get real friend.Thierry Henry wrote:I'm about to start Demon's Souls for the first time.

I could handle Devil May Cry with little problem (excluding the final boss in Devil May Cry 3; that guy was a BITCH), but Demon's Souls abused me more than Michael Vic's dogs.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Demon's Souls reputation for difficulty is greatly exaggerated. Strangely, it was always the Beowulf battle that gave me fits. I took Vergil down pretty fast. Weird, I know. Maybe it was the skill line I decided to pursue.

I agree with this statement. The game is difficult but if you play a caster and the game becomes a lot more manageable. If not, take your time. I think the biggest reason these games have gotten such a reputation is people running headlong into things instead slowly making your way through things.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Demon's Souls reputation for difficulty is greatly exaggerated. A person I work with talked about how much they would destroy Bloodbourne. I listened to them play for about 5hrs in party chat, unable to beat the second set of mobs. They never made it to the first boss and sold the game about 3 days after it came out. Humble pie served up and gamer ego brought down.

Re: How did you last die?
So what is the trick to the Souls games? Maybe I just don't understand them since the leveling isn't like typical RPGs, but I really don't *want* to give up on them; I just suck giant ass at them. Is there a magic trick or something, or am I just a total scrub?

No, you just hit things until they die. That's all.ElkinFencer10 wrote:So what is the trick to the Souls games?
