The area you are given to build in is alot smaller and while you are given the option to take over multiple cities in the region they feel very disjointed unlike Skylines where you can buy neighboring plots of land and have full control over connecting them. There is also a lot of stuff that Sim City does for you like automatically laying electrical and water connections on every road which is kind of nice if you like things simple but takes some of the challenge out of it. The game also doesn't run as smooth as Skylines and I found it chugging quite a bit once I filled up most of the map.
The only real things I can give Sim City over Skylines is Skylines doesn't have disasters which can be fun. Plus the multiplayer aspect of Sim City seems fun although it feels really limited was kind of disappointed that I could see 10+ cities on the maps I was on, but I could only interact meaningfully with 3 others because "roads don't connect to that city" BS
Really Skylines beats this game by a mile, but it's not as bad a game as people make it out to be. Plus I spent a total of $5.99 shipped for it back when Best Buy had it on clearance last year.
