Bought a Fake Pokemon Platinum off ebay, see my regret

Post by Hazerd »

Found a Pokemon Platinum on ebay for $24.99 "BRAND NEW" and it had sold a bunch of other copies like 20+ and it was from the US, so i figured i was safe, so i buy it...

Few days later it arrives, i open it, well first off it wasnt sealed, other than that it looked real legit. The artwork and case looked spot on, the manual was good.

The game booted up fine on my DS, and latest firmware 3DS, so i did some googling and just still not sure to be honest, so i opened the cart and found the big black blot of doom, which is usually a dead give away of being fake.

Am i wrong or is this a real cart?

Don't return it, go straight to eBay. He broke the terms of service and they'll get your money back.

All too common on ebay these days, unfortunately. Definitely fake though. There was a guy who did sell replacement DS cartridge cases so you could put in one of those but he is incredibly difficult to get a hold of and I'm not sure if he still makes them. If you are interested I can look for his youtube video, but usually once you open them there is no way to put them back together.

Always make sure you can compare the serial numbers before you buy. DS games are the most often faked out of any game.

Impressively small scaled down bootleg you got there.

About as fake as taking some viagra, sure it gets the job done, but it's not real either. :D

If for some reason it came down to repairing it, I have some great news for you. The guy who sells the replacement cases is now on ebay. Great to see him back.

Edit: Okay so it does say something about not working with the made in China fakes. Not sure if it will work for you now :/ but at least I can fix my copy of Pokemon Black version 2 that was chewed on by a dog. Super Stoked!

There's no reason for him to fix the bootleg. eBay will have him dispose of it anyway.

Though thanks for sharing, I didn't know you could get replacement shells.

I didn't know of that either, so colorful. Makes you feel sad Nintendo cheaped out and stopped doing it themselves as you'd figure they'd have got color cute with the Pokemon titles like on GBA. Wouldn't hurt to DIY on your own game, even if you ended up fed up and selling it I'm sure some pokemon fanboy would explode having the only colorized cart.
