Earthbound lets you get all the way to the end and then crashes at Gygas and corrupts your save file.Gunstar Green wrote:I love those fun little in-game DRM tricks. If you manage to survive it and make it halfway, the game then forces you to look at the sky and constantly spin your camera so you can no longer aim or see where you are going. Classic.

This is my favorite DRM method of all time. It is just perfect.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
It does more than that, from what I've read. There were a few things, IIRC, but the one I definitely remember is it making the game much harder by adding a TON more enemies around every where.MrPopo wrote:Earthbound lets you get all the way to the end and then crashes at Gygas and corrupts your save file.

Yeah, but the end game piece is my favorite part.Ziggy587 wrote:It does more than that, from what I've read. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I spent about $80 in that last Gog winter sale, I am fully aware of their library. Mostly older stuff and new indie games.Exhuminator wrote:That only used to be true. You might want to have a look at GOG's current catalog and constant stream of new releases that are actually new games.Jmustang1968 wrote:Gog has some cool games, but most are or were abandonware or old DOS games that were easy(easier) to obtain free already.
Also, every Steam game that's decent is available pre-cracked on torrent sites btw. Steam's DRM isn't any better than Starforce or SecuROM insofar as actual security is concerned.
And I acknowledge the general usefulness of the DRMs. It wasn't my point, and why I had easier in parentheses. Steam's set up though is an interface that grants benefits that you'd struggle to get without having a log in. And the fact there is some control over the licensing of the games gives publishers, especially big publishers that piece of mind, however fragile it may be.
Yet, it works. People are buying PC games now, a lot more than they used to and games are being released without draconic DRM.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Today I read an article saying that games are "implictely Republican" and I just...I don't know. It's not even the first article I've seen like that there are like billions of articles arguing that some part of gaming or gaming as a whole is basically Donald Trump and I find every single one of them to be beyond moronic.
Seriously, if I have to see another article comparing Bernie Sanders to Gamergate I'l poke my eyes out

What does that even mean? I mean, most of them have Hollywood-style violence, and that's not a Republican thing, 'cause almost everyone in Hollywood is far left. I'd like to read that article.

Some people just can't separate their politics from anything. I'd like to see the article as well if you can inflict it upon us in good conscience.

I love using the Republican "Democracy 3" to make a perfect socialist utopia.Erik_Twice wrote:Today I read an article saying that games are "implictely Republican" and I just...I don't know. I'd say games are usually capitalist, but I don't see the Republican angle.
