You can't do that in puzzle platformers.

Like it or not, this is Nintendo's market these days.

I think they're starting to realize that. Slowly but surely, it does feel (to me anyway) like they're beginning to target us rather than our little cousins.

Splatoon is great if you like team based third person shooters (and like things that are wacky and unique), but the single player is super meh, and the local multiplayer is absolute balls.
That's the problem right there, and no not picking on WiiU, but FPS games. There was a time about a decade ago if that when you would get both a robust single player story to run through, maybe some added challenges and side junk to diddle with in the menus too qualifying the purchase. Now you get more rehash or a good set of mix of new ideas like with Splatoon that are pissed away with a terrible, bland, short and nearly pointless single player 'adventure' and all the effort goes into the online aspect. It was mind blowing to me when Wolfenstein was properly finally resurrected and they flipped the bird to the online kids and went into fleshing out a great ride with some distance to it. And that there is an unpopular gaming opinion -- FPS games need a solid single player campaign to enjoy, or that they in some games ONLY need to be that.

I know it's possible even for a group like the makers of Call of Duty and Medal of Honor have done in the past with some amazing WW2 games as they were well made and intense.

The New Order was definitely damn good. FPS's are still my comfort food, but rarely do we get things like The New Order, Bioshock Infinite, Alien Isolation, etc thesedays that are pure campaign focused and deliver something longer than 4 hours. Even the new Halo looks like dooky and I can't even recall if anyone on these boards ever talked about it. That game "came and went" instantly, it's hilarious.

Well maybe it fits this thread, but I still love Halo 1. Repeating corridors and backtracking levels be damned, I don't care. I love it. lol

That game is fun. I love the story, and i beat it last year. Spoiler alert though, the ending is way too big of a cliffhanger so if you don't like cliffhangers don't play because I felt like there should've been something that happened after the ending....
