Re: Classic Gaming Conventions?
In brief:
The Momocon crew are attempting to establish a yearly retrogaming convention in Atlanta Georgia starting this October. The plan is to have as many groups gather in the same place for the purpose of retrogaming. Atari, Amiga, Commodore, Shmup, Arcade, RPG, Fighting, and all other fan groups we can find who are willing to come and share their knowledge with the rest of us. The goal is to have 10-15 rooms of games: console, pc, and arcade, a dealers room, several rooms for panels, and a theater for movies. We are in talks with many groups about helping run panels/rooms, several distribution companies to see how much it will be to show their films (King of Kong, The Wizard, and The Last Starfighter, are the current ones being rolled around).
However we have put most of the work on this convention on hold for Momocon (March 14th and 15th) and since it is rumored that the venue will be demolished in the near future. Soon after Momo expect me to be asking alot more questions about it.
And so yall know, several members of the forums have offered to help. Ack with his sizable fighting game collection, Majors and his Wedoca Crew (who are the reason to go to Animazement), also a certain creator of a website we all like has signed on to be a major hand in this. Wink wink nudge nudge say no more…
More as it comes – but if you have ideas we are open to them.

Well if this retro con works out, I think everyone will be more willing to travel for it.
