Ever since I moved into an apartment, I store about 90% of my game library in sterilite containers from Target. I strictly buy the ones with the purple handles, to ensure they stack cleanly and what not. I'll take a picture of my storage closet later, but these are what I use for my loose carts. I'd like to potentially change my storage system around, but it's a bit late since i've invested in so many of these containers.

Do they "seal" cleanly too? I have a 3-pair pull out plastic drawer set from Walmart and it's amazing how dusty the insides and things get. On the other hand I have some loose stuff stored in shoeboxes that are spotlessly clean.

They seal great! The side clamps close pretty tight, and I haven't noticed any dust inside the containers.

As you can see in the photos below, I also am huge on Sterilite drawer systems. They're all over my apartment. They're kind of flimsy, but they hold controllers and consoles pretty well. They're not ideal in terms of keeping dust out, unfortunately. I wish I had space to put each individual console in their own independent, sealed container.

Let me know if you want to see how any specific game cartridges fit. I pretty much have all kinds of carts stored in these things.

N64 carts fit great at three rows


I use the 50Qt/47L for my dvd sized cases. It's not perfect, w/ the extra space on the sides, and I really hate that these come with wheels because they conflict with some of the storage room inside the containers.


360/oXbox games


For jewel cases, I use the 32QT/30L containers. I'm actually pretty impressed with how well it stores PS1/Dreamcast games. I can really fit a lot of jewel cases in there and the depth is perfect.

I've considered getting some of those card sleeves for my portable collection before, but whilst it works great for Game Boy and Neo Geo Pocket titles, it seems like the sleeves would be too small for my loose Game Gear and Virtual Boy titles.

Any solutions for those?

Portable cartridges have always been a hassle to deal with. I've played various card games over the years, so I've always had the plastic TCG pages laying around, which I stored my GB/GBA collection in for quiet some time. I eventually ended up buying a huge lot of the plastic cases for the GB/GBA cartridges and then putting them in small sterilite containers, which fits them very efficiently. I'll take some pictures of them later.

I've yet to find a good solution for my NGPC carts, but I only have 9 or so of them, so I just keep them in a cardboard box that an everdrive came in at one point. I think the NGPC carts would fit in the card pages, though. They arn't any wider than GB/GBC cartridges. My Gamegear carts are just merged in with my GB carts. Retrogametechs storage is what inspired me to invest in the plastic cases and sterilite container solution.

While a nice thought, I'd think any half OCD collector would be more afraid of creasing a flap or shelf wearing a box getting a game out -- probably with butter knife in hand to flatly open the flap to not fold it while having a cold sweat.

Yeah, this. Any games I have CIB with a cardboard box, I actually remove the game and store the box seperately. It also keeps my collection more uniform as most of my games are unboxed anyway on those systems.
