My all time favorite anime ever is Akira.

There is no good Akira video game.

I've tried them all. They all suck.

So if that's an unpopular gaming opinion, I managed to turn this thread around.

Yeah, I want to play that Dirty Pair Famicom game, but I've heard from all accounts that it's one of the worst Famicom Disc System games.

Best you can really hope for is that a game is passable when it's based on an anime. I do tend to enjoy most shmups and beat 'em ups based on anime, but I feel like those are genres where you have to be a real screw up to not make something that's at least a fun time killer.

I've found this to be true myself as a general rule.

Although both of the Ghost in the Shell games I've beaten (PS1 and PS2) were really good. That might be an unpopular opinion, at least for the PS2 version. I still need to get around to the PSP game and see if it's really as bad as people said it was.

The Akira and Dirty Pair games (for Amiga CD32 and FDS, respectively) are generally regarded as two of the worst video games of all time.

I kind of want to buy them just to see.

Stand Alone Complex on the PS2 is definitely very legit. Maybe even better than Oni.

My all time favorite anime ever is Akira.

Spirited Away is my personal favorite anime film, but Akira is second. I had the pleasure of seeing it in a theater, and it was amazing. After that, it is pretty much Studio Ghibli's filmography, excluding Tales from Earthsea (because that movie is terrible), with Galaxy Express 999, Ghost in the Shell, Metropolis, Ninja Scroll, Perfect Blue, The Place Promised In Our Early Days, Princess Arete, and Vampire Hunter D inserted into the list at random.

My favorite anime is Hyperdimension Neptunia. But that may or may not be because I just generally worship the series as if it were a goddess.

I agree on much of the ghibli stuff even pre-ghibli lupin castle of Cagliostro. Both vampire hunter d movies too, was even my warezy irc nick in the 90s with all vowels removed for the nine letter limit. . The manga of d and lupin are excellent too. I really need to get the ghibli and D movies on blu ray.
