Ive read the SFC FEs have incomplete or bad translations. So if you want them in English, it isnt really a good option.

Awakening is perhaps one of the best starting points Id say, or Rekka No Ken, which is the first localized GBA game. The Binding Blade which came before this one, is actually pretty well regarded amongst fans of the series.

The translation of Genealogy has a glorious Holy Knight say "Whassup" so I'm not going to say it's good because it isn't but it's playable without being cringe-inducing, I didn't have much of an issue with it, basically

Thracia is an unfinished wreck full of internet memes.

Not sure about Mystery.

The first US Fire Emblem is an excellent starting point, which is why it was called out in the opening post. I'd say Awakening is also a really good starting point; it even lets you turn off the perma death and you can use the pair up system to make your units better defensively.

In terms of SFC translations, Geneaology has a pretty complete translation patch; I played my copy that I had Ziggy make for me at least 5 years ago (so not even with the latest changes) and the only things that were missing was some inconsequential dialog upon capturing a castle in the final chapter and then the ending (but there's a good translation available on SerenesForest). It looks like Thracia 776 has a mostly complete translation as well, though I haven't checked it out myself.

Yeah, seems I was mixing up mystery with genealogy for the translations.

So this thread is dedicated to the entire series? If that's the case I'm gonna try to squeeze this in when I get a chance.

Well not quite. The selected game is the localized Fire Emblem, first english game on GBA. However, as usual anyone can play what they like similar to the "official" trpg game.

Sounds good. I've played various Fire Emblem entries, but this days I like to start at the beginning of any given series.

I'll join you on that one, why not?

I've been needing to play this since I didn't start it for last year's summer challenge anyhow.

I should go back and try to finish the GBA entry, I got a good way into it, actually. Chapter 23 if I recall.
