I'd go the other way. If I had to choose Wii + 1 it would be the 360 over the PS3. That would have been a no brainer a year ago, now it's a tougher choice, but I'd still go 360.

I kidding around with the drugs, those days are over for me. Damn those random drug tests at work. $399.00 would throw one hell of a party though, and would bring me more joy than a video game ever could.

I personally would go with the PS3, as the 360 doesn't have enough exclusives that I am interested in. Most of the games the 360 gets either also go PC, are also on the PS3, or just aren't worth playing (Halo 3). Also, I refuse to pay for Live on principle, so the online play is out. Having played a lot on the PS3, I find that the multiplayer is just fine. Granted, most of what I play online are either Fighters or Rock Band, but I love how almost no one has a mic to talk to other people. So far it's just been one guy, two nights ago, on Street Fighter IV who was just rattling off a constant stream of what sounded like Spanish. And even that ended once the match actually started.

I used to think the same thing, but valve kinda turned me around. Playing on a team of children or annoying people with mics is shitty, and it happens from time to time but playing with some strangers who are actually communicating and playing the game well while looking out for each other is really really fun.

I never used to play with a mic and now i can't put it down. Left 4 dead and TF2 changed me. I've played both games to death, so I am kind of at the point where i don't play unless people are talking.

Yeah, a lot of people knock PSN, but I've honestly never had a problem with it.

Well, except for Soul Calibur 4 and GTA4, but that has more to do with the way those games approach online, not the way PSN handles online. Seriously, those games' online methods are ass-backwards. Also, some sessions of SFIIHD are glitchy as hell, but again, I'm pretty sure that is the game's fault, not PSN's.

I also have a strong distaste for paying for multiplayer. Sony and Nintendo can do it for free; you mean to tell me that MICROSOFT needs the money? Also, if you are going to pay a premium, you'd at least expect it to be ad free. I understand that Microsoft's service is a lot better than Nintendo and Sony's, but with PSN, you sure get a whole lot for no money at all.

It all comes down to taste. I know that there are some people out there that couldn't possibly live without Gears of War 2 and Halo 3. The only games I can think of that I really want for the 360 is Ninja Gaiden 2 and Dead Rising. (I also really want Left 4 Dead, but I'd rather just upgrade my processor so my computer can handle it.)

The deciding factor for me was digital distro games. Xbox Live Arcade has some great games on it, but for the most part, I can mimic XBLA with MAME, a Dreamcast and an original Xbox, all of which I already have. PixelJunk Monsters, Echochrome, Blast Factor, Nucleus, Everyday Shooter... I couldn't get those games through other means (At the time. Now Everyday Shooter is on Steam.) And since then, PSN now has Savage Moon, PixelJunk Eden, WipeOut HD, Soldner X and Noby Noby Boy. With so many of the blockbuster $60 titles being made of the same lifeless paste, I've actually found that downloadable games are the real reason to have a console. I might actually have more games on my HDD than on discs with my PS3.

Oh yeah, and about the Mics... If a game had a volume control for voice communication, I'd usually just mute it completely. I like how some games like Burnout Paradise actually made it easy to mute specific players, but most other games just got muted all together. Very, very rarely has being able to communicate with strangers in a game been of any use.

If you play team based games like TF2 or L4D it's essential. It's so hard to do well on those games without proper co-op.

I would put the $400 into a saving account and sit on it until I had a really strong desire for something specific, or a need for $400 to cover something like car repair.

Geez, are these economic times the best to be blowing $400?

I'm convinecd the so-called bad economy is just a media conspiracy. The only reason I'm even aware that there is some kind of crisis is that the media says so, which in turn makes a bunch of people sell stocks, so the prices fall. If the media didn't report it, would it exist?
