Personally speaking... because my for real PS1 is mothballed in the far reaches of my dork cave's closet. That's because playing on the actual hardware isn't as convenient regardless. With emulation, the load times are faster, the graphics are enhanced, and I can save anytime I damn well please. Also with emulation, I can easily take screenshots that none of you bastards care about.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Any reason you bastards don't want to just stick the disc into a PlayStation console?

PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: RPG Progress Report
I do almost all my PS1 gaming on the PSP now, but I occasionally bust my discs out. Not in a PS1, however, it's usually using a PS2 instead.
There's certainly a nice convenience factor once you get things set up. I don't emulate much PSX on PC, though, oddly enough. I probably should, though. It's been relegated mostly to trying out new translations and the like.
Dang it, now that reminds me I need to get back to Silent Bomber one of these days. I highly recommend giving that one a shot. Actually, I need to ping over to the recommendations thread...

Fair enough.
I go back and forth between a PlayStation 2 and ePSXe (on a PC). Never emulated on the PSP though.

It's actually remarkable how good the PSX emulation is on PSP. Guess that's what happens when you have a processor that is in the same family, and Sony does all the work. It's super nice from a portability standpoint, there was a period where I'd churn through PSX games I passed over in the backlog while doing other stuff like watching TV.
Man, I loved the PSP. Wish someone would hack the Vita wide open like that.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I enjoy using the PS3 for PS1 gaming. Infinite memory cards. I was also able to transfer my dozen or so old memory cards onto the harddrive, so that's awesome. The smoothing option seems a lot better than the PS2's to me.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Kingdom Hearts I FM - finally got back around to playing games to some extent and I've made it further in this one than I have before. Finally got through Tarzan's world, and now stuck in Agrabah(I keep falling over the freaking edges when I get in battle mode or a stupid attack right as I use a potion o_O). Still kinda playing yellow but keep forgetting to take the darn thing with me at work and to take it upstairs on my breaks(rush up there and remember that it's downstairs in my jacket but don't feel like risking it and having a customer think I'm on the clock XD)
My gameroom
