Part of my problem is also when I see a good deal. "Oh shit, that game's usually $50, but it's only $25 here." "Damn, Steam has that game 80% off!" "This Humble Bundle gives me $150 worth of games for $30!"

It all adds up quickly, even if I am "saving" a lot in the process...

Eh, I would only flip the emergency switch like this if it was physical. Chances are, that $25 discount will be nothing compared to the 80% discount a few months down the road.

I ended up only getting one game, in bold, that covers two systems since my mid-month update but I'm very happy to have gotten it for $25. I also sold off and traded some stuff I had doubles of or didn't need and traded in some stuff to GameStop so my Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition is paid off. I also put pre-orders on Pokken Tournament and the Hori controller.

I doubt I'll do this often, but just once for the hell of it...

Everything I bought in January and what I paid:

Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits (PS2) $14.99
Arcana Heart 3: LOVE MAX!!!!! (Vita) $19.99
Call of Duty World at War Platinum Edition (360) $19.99
Devil May Cry Collection (360) $8.85
Dungeon Hunter Alliance (Vita) $12.99
Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days (360) $7.00
Prototype 1 (360) $7.99
Prototype 2 (360) $7.19
Scribblenauts Unlimited (3DS) $13.99
The Legend of Legacy (3DS) $22.96
ToCA Race Driver 3 (Xbox) $8.95
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (360) $11.97

Prices include shipping. Everything bought from either Amazon or eBay. All games were brand new and sealed aside from ToCA 3 and Prototype 1.

January total: $156.86 - averages out to just under $40 a week.

That's about average for what I spend a month on collecting. I work off a master list of all games I'm trying to collect for various systems. List is weighted by most desired, but I still check for killer deals for low tier items and will take them if found.

I finally ordered Trails of Cold Steel. Where am I going to find the time for all these RPGs? Yikes. At least it didn't cost me anything, Best Buy gift cards are useful. :)

EDIT: Oh, retrosportsgamer, be sure to give Escape Goat a good shot. I absolutely loved that game.
