Is that some other Blue Burst server? The website is unresponsive right now.

Knocked out FFVII this past weekend. Probably the 11th or 12th time I've played it... this was the PS4 version. It was pretty much just a run so I could get nice screenshots for a series of blog posts I'm planning... yes, I used the included cheats (like that game even needs them). You can even use them to cheese your way through the Weapons if you're careful. Still, that's a 60 hour game down... time to finally move on to something new! Like maybe Suikoden... never played it and my Vita needs some RPG love.

I gave King's Field 1 a try last night, but the eboot crashed my PSP and needed a reset. Maybe I'll just stick with King's Field 2 (King's Field 1 in the US) for now. That way I can use a full controller, at least...

What CFW are you using on your PSP?

I'd like to say that every King's Field has a different feel. And I found KF2 to be my least favorite. Now, it's still a fine game, don't get me wrong, but it's built to be a recursive labyrinthine island. I preferred KF1's series of ever more hardcore dungeons over KF2. I also prefer KF3's ever expanding world which is more linear in nature to KF2's maze-like design. KF4 was even more linear, and I didn't mind that one bit.

No matter which KF you play, I think you'll have a great time. You just have to push past the first wonky hour of wtf is this? Once KF clicks for you, you're in for an amazing time.

My own KF3 progress... finished the Wind Palace last night. Ended up many of those treasure chests had some awesome stuff in them. Including a pair of boots that allow you to sprint and recover stamina far faster than normal.

From there I navigated the dreaded Path of Poison to reach Lake Noel. At Lake Noel I found out I missed another pair of magic boots in the Path of Poison. So I went back there, and found them in a deep secret passage full of creepy ghosts . The boots are called Aquarian Boots and they allow you to walk on magic water bridges.

So at Lake Noel I had to use a giant gear thing that altered the magic water bridge paths between a series of islands. There were some very strong earth monsters in that area, and one of them dropped a Crystal Flask. Crystal Flasks are worth their weight in diamond in King's Field so that was a happy find. Eventually using that magic water bridge network I found the Water Sage, who gave me a new water spell (antidote). And eventually I worked my way past Lake Noel, to reach The Thieves Passage.

The Thieves Passage is spooky as shit right off the bat, so I just stopped there last night.

Actually LVL5.

First thing I did after starting a new character was jump into the Forest to do some grinding. Upped myself a couple of levels and bought some new shit before I even started any quests. Went off and completed four or five quests after that.

Honest to goodness, PSO has to be one of my favorite games of all time. Must be Top 10 material anyway. It's just one of those games that no matter how much time I've spent on it, I can always start a new character and jump back in and enjoy every moment of doing so.

And can we talk about that music? I really need to find the soundtrack.

Anyway, I'm planning to jump in to the anniversary event on Sylverant once I've got myself up a few more levels.

It's a strangely alluring game.

I've warmed up to the soundtrack over time. It's subtle and ambient and didn't jump out at me initially.

Probably one my favorite games ever too.

6.60 Pro CFW on a JPN PSPgo.

I'm not giving up, I should be able to run it in an emulator. And I think it would be better played with a controller... I can't play anything that isn't a turn-based RPG on my Go.

Huh, that should work fine. Could be one of the funky games that doesn't like to convert with particular versions of PSX2PSP. Try an older version and see what happens.

Hmm. Well, I'm running 6.60 PRO-C, and I can tell you that it ran King's Field III: Pilot Style perfectly on a PSP1000. And that was from an ISO I converted myself. I also converted and successfully played a King's Field II ISO. So maybe try converting the ISO yourself in case that eboot you found is corrupt or something.

If not, by all means, ePSXe is the best way to go. Especially with resolution and texture enhancements. There's an Android port of ePSXe that's totally great as well.

Any reason you bastards don't want to just stick the disc into a PlayStation console?
