Cool, I look forward to your write up of Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I've written my own review of it (and plenty of other Sonic games) for my blog, but it's not up yet.

I know what you mean about it, as I don't think I like it as much as the other Genesis Sonic games either. I've always liked the presentation, the save feature, the way levels transition into each other, the new power ups and I LOVED Knuckles as a kid and the fact Tails could fly, but I could only bring myself to complete the game (both locked on) once and it was back in 2009. So many of the levels are just really frustrating.

As a side note, I was disappointed to find my Sonic 3 and Knuckles cartridges no longer work when locked on. Not sure why (maybe the top part of the Knuckles cartridge is clogged with dust), so I had to replay the games on Sonic Jam earlier this year when I wrote my review.

Yeah, Sonic3&K is one of the most technically impressive games on the Genesis... but man, those levels. It was really the start of the series relying on unavoidable/cheap hits to increase the "difficulty." Pretty much every single 2D Sonic after that has suffered from the same thing. Don't even get me started on Carnival Night Zone... the biggest troll level in the entire series, I think.

Haha I HATE that level with a passion!!!

Couldn't have said it better myself. The level is definitely the biggest troll level in the series.

Alright, you've convinced me. You drive a hard bargain. I need to do that Sonic 3 write-up this month. Sonic CD and Spinball (puke) can wait.

Haha I won't be featuring Sonic CD or Sonic Spinball in my blog. I have to say, I don't like either games. Something about Sonic CD just... doesn't work for me. I don't like the time travel aspects and it felt weird playing it after Sonic 2, since the engine seems to be based on the first Sonic.

That said, it would be interesting to hear your opinions on them at some point. Either way, I look forward to more of your posts :)

I used to say the same thing until I realised it's the one classic era Sonic game I've actually never gotten into it. I've never completed it. I don't even know why? Like I said, I just couldn't get into it...

Hey, maybe it's time I sat down properly with the game, force myself to play through it and get an updated opinion on it. It's worth it for the 'Sonic Boom' song in the beginning alone.

That's fair enough, considering your blog is all about recommendations. Hell, I wouldn't recommend playing half the stuff I blog about.

Sonic Spinball is a pretty miserable little game, but I hope I have more to say about it that that. like what a missed opportunity it was.

I'm also not that familiar with Sonic CD. I never even tried it until it was released on PSN a few years back. Some people swear by it, but I imagine those are the same ones who keep buying the garbage modern Sonic games (wait that's me) and are just desperately clinging on to the quality of the franchise's early days.

Us Sonic fans are a strange and sad bunch.

Finally got around to that Greendog post.

It's not a bad game. Maybe my playtime is just colored by nostalgia. I don't know. It definitely has a very unique vibe that you don't see much of, at least, and ultimately that's the most notable thing about it.
