Or, you'll be looking back in a few years thinking you should have sold at the high point when you had the chance!

I have a strange tolerance for those things (mostly because I had to put up with one years ago; nostalgia is a funny thing).
It's not the 1st controller I reach for, but it works as an extra turbo pad when needed.

That's definitely on the horizon once the interest fades away from the non-core collector/old gamer group that was around before all the tactics of the last few years. Games like Run Saber till plummet as will other faux mass produced rares like the Turtles game. A real rare like a Hagane though, that'll maybe slide maybe not, but it won't tank as it's very uncommon.

I had it too, I'd like to play it again, but I wouldn't put up more than $15-20 for it as I value it there personally as it's not like super great. It's a good Strider knockoff though that I feel does the stages and mechanics more smoothly, but not respected as it's not Strider (or a Capcom game during their era they didn't suck.)

At least the one that stings for you is still under original retail. The last game on SNES I wish I hadn't lost to unemployment losses a decade ago was aerofighters. I got that in the later 90s for $10 with the game, poster, manual and dust clip which now is all sold individually and for wallet rape worthy prices. $400 game, the manual and the poster awful too, and the box gets silly. I really need to stop wussing out over aliexpress and buy the supposedly perfect looking new parts bootleg of it as it's like $20 shipped.

Right, so the prices are really governed by both rarity and demand. Some of the games selling for a decent chunk of money aren't that rare, but they are in demand, so eventually, those will likely taper off. The true rarities, though? I don't see those coming down any time soon, unless we hit some sort of major economic catastrophe. It's not SNES, but Panzer Dragoon Saga is still slowly edging upwards, and shows no real indications of ever dropping back down.

I agree. There are plenty of games that are going to reach a plateau and stay there and there are flavor of the month hidden gems that will get bought by the people who want them and then dive in price.

I also think that evergreen games like Mario and such will always be in demand. They'll never be rare but people will always want them.

It was going for about $300 when I bought my copy; recently I've been seeing a CIB near-mint copy selling for between $500 and $600.

Also regarding SNES generally, my translated repros of the three Super Famicom Fire Emblem games came in the mail the other day. Per Popo-senpai's recommendation, I'll be playing Genealogy of the Holy War first.

Sonic Wings for SFC should be relatively cheap. Plus, it is mostly, if not all English text.

Not as much as it has been a couple years ago, but still like $30-40 shipped sucks nothing near the 10x over ($400) price tag of the US release due to shenanigans mixed with true scarcity.
