woah!

I'm not kidding - I've said the phrase "I miss Circuit City" more times than is probably normal. This is awesome.

I wonder if they will get back in the divx rental business.

Just kidding, I miss them too. They had a certain charm that Best Buy doesn't, and they seemed to hire people that knew a bit about the electronics they were selling.

If that rolls into my area I'd love to see the layout and how they intend to compete and survive this time not just being an online shop.

I was mixed on them when they were around, had a lot of old new stock which was great for movies and games, music too, but their prices weren't competitive at all on new stuff unless there was some holiday sale which is likely why they got crushed. I'll never forget picking their bones clean locally when it failed as I ended up with a $300 investment into a new PS3, 3 games, and a component cable too back when the PS3 I think was still $400 before it went slim.

I don't know man, I bought a 42" Sony Wega CRT there for like $450 back in their glory days. It was the best deal I could find locally. Of course we didn't have a Best Buy at the time, but it was a good deal for the set at that time no matter where I purchased.

I loved their layout as well. In fact, I much prefer the old store to the current Best Buy. They could just bring back as it was and I'd be happy.

Interesting.

Best Buy has been going down hill for years though. So they are really going to have to change up their approach and try to not be like Best Buy. lol

With the recent "come back" of book stores to the market, this could be really interesting to say the least. Physical product is coming back! Just need the return of big box PC games!

It's totally happening! Last year was great for the physical book market (I was so happy to hear that too!).

So good that Amazon started a physical store in a test market.

:( Borders, I thought of that on his comment before you brought it up. It made it so easy for me to buy some fun manga I liked to read given all those buy one get one 1/2 off or 30%~ off coupons they did. I hated when they folded because they even on regular pricing was less than those high priced crooks at B&N.

jp1--I know, they had their moments, and I said as much. It was maybe 10 years ago now when I got my now dead Panasonic LCD TV from them, a really nice Viera. It didn't force any form of added layers of processing or post processing so all my old classic video games had no input lag problems. I got really stroked out when the kid broke it about 2 years ago now as I had to do some hard research to find what I have now which has the same perk in an LED TV. That Panasonic for the time it hit the market, the model, and the size, I got a wicked deal on it when I bought it, beat BB by a good tidy margin among others in the area.
