Not sure what else would work though. Leaning towards a PSN game, but I have no idea what.
Probably an unusual choice, but Doom is comfort food for me. Very easy to pick up and tons of levels to keep you busy. The latest Doom Collection release on the PSN was top notch containing Doom 1, 2, Plutonia, TNT, Doom 2 Master Levels, and the originally XBLA exclusive episode.

Probably not what you're looking for at all.

I love Terraria and don't really think it has that much in common with Minecraft as it appears to. Combat plays a big role in progression and its all about moving up the gear tiers to be strong enough to take on the next boss. Its got a great progression system and a lot of heart.

That's not unusual. Doom is always the answer.

I don't think there's ever been a point in my life where I've not wanted to play Doom.

Have you played some Megawads? So much greatness out there, Hell Revealed 1-2, Alien Vendetta, Memento Mori 1-2, the Community Chest Packs. Doom is infinite!

I also ran through Doom 64 EX last year and it was amazing, still love that one as well.

So, it's pretty much resource collecting to make better equipment, which is then used to fight boss battles? That might be up my alley.

Actually, I didn't know there was a DOOM collection on PSN. That's right up my alley, it'll give me a place to play it besides my toaster.

I've got an itch for something with building or collecting with an actual goal, or maybe a survival game with a goal. I like those types of games, but half the time it seems to be doing it just to do it.

The only thing I can think of right now that somewhat fits that description, and is also on PSN, is this:

https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/ ... ARVEPS3V01
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

That is a good one. I think that he might also like Rogue Legacy.

As much as I love Doom, I've never played through Doom 64. After learning about EX, I've been debating which version my first play through should be...

Oh yeah, both of those look similar to what I'm looking for. I might grab a $50 PSN card and grab those and DOOM. Maybe Shovel Knight too.
