Vectorman is so amazing, definitely among the dozen or Genesis titles I replay a lot throughout the years. I love how dark and evil 2 is, the atmosphere is so gritty and weird in both games.

Brofist on the Captain Planet slam... even as a kid I hated it.

It became an ultra-judgmental hangup I had as a kid. If you like that show, we can't be friends.Xeogred wrote:Brofist on the Captain Planet slam... even as a kid I hated it.

Re: SNESdrunk reviews
It's kind of sad that for a lot of people Vectorman became, "hey look we're competing with Donkey Kong Country," because Blue Sky Software didn't intend it at all. They were just doing their own thing, not making it in response to DKC. People were just desperate to find something to compare to DKC on the Genesis.
It's a really cool game in its own right with slick graphics and silky smooth gameplay.

Re: SNESdrunk reviews
The problem I have with Vectorman, and some other late 16 bit releases, is the way the camera follows the player and character's direction a little too closely. Gives me a headache.
I review (mostly old) games at: The Annals of Retrodom.

I totally get what you mean, it does take some getting used totouchofkiel wrote:The problem I have with Vectorman, and some other late 16 bit releases, is the way the camera follows the player and character's direction a little too closely. Gives me a headache.

That is a good way to put it, pretty noticeable in the vertical based stages. It's definitely different and Vectorman being a bit big on the screen can make it funky.SNESdrunk wrote:I totally get what you mean, it does take some getting used totouchofkiel wrote:The problem I have with Vectorman, and some other late 16 bit releases, is the way the camera follows the player and character's direction a little too closely. Too bad this is Sega IP #94385 that died too quickly.

I think it's one of those cases where the intended remake wasn't going well and when that got dropped nobody ever felt the need to pick it back up.Xeogred wrote:Too bad this is Sega IP #94385 that died too quickly.
Also a lot of Sega games fall into this pit where the IPs are recognizable to retro game freaks like us but not well known enough anymore to bother reviving for the general public.
I feel like Sega should just start farming out stuff like this to small studios and see what happens. It's not like they have anything to lose if the games turn out lousy.
Re: SNESdrunk reviews
The camera and vertical scrolling is what kept me from getting into this game. I never made it past level 1, the game just never clicked with me. I'll eventually give it another go, but I've already made several attempts in the past.Xeogred wrote:That is a good way to put it, pretty noticeable in the vertical based stages.
