Video Game Music Quiz 2016 January

Yeah, I'd definitely enjoy it.

And doh, I got so close on a few of mine! Guessed the wrong entries of Shining Force and Wild ARMs. And I should have gotten the King's Quest one, I knew it was from a big PC game series, just couldn't remember which one. For the record, here's my guesses (and accompanying terrible logic):

1) No idea.
2) Donkey Kong Country 2*
3) Kid Dracula, I think? Famicom version.*
4) Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, or Portrait of Ruin (I believe this is the arranged version)*
5) Shining Force
6) Dang it, I've heard this one... one of the Ultima games?
7) Freedom Planet*
8] Mega Man X (actually not entirely sure it's the first game, but I'll go with it, I think this is Spark Mandrill)*
9) No idea. Pandora's Tower? Aww man, I know I've heard this one!
10) No idea.
11) Demon's Crest*
12) Cool, but I can't recognize it...
13) Wild ARMs... 2? I'm almost positive it's at least from that series.
14) Wild ARMs (Adlehyde music, I think?)
15) Oh, man, I've heard this somewhere... why can't I place it? I'm gonna go Ys 3, just because.
16) Sounds like a Tales game, or at least a Motoi Sakuraba joint. I'll roll with... Tales of Destiny?*
17) Despite the whistling, this sounds a bit like Star Ocean. Maybe SO: Second Story?
18) Aw nuts, I think I've heard this somewhere. Sounds like credit music for something on SNES. Aw heck, I'll just stab at Tales of Phantasia. Pretty sure it's not right.
19) Can't place it.
20) Oh geez, I know I've heard this. Different arrangement, though. I'll remember it as soon as I guess wrong. Xenogears? Sound chip is wrong, though.
21) No idea. Maybe it's a Ys game, PC-88 version or something?
22) Wrong chip, but it reminds me a ton of the Mega Man X opening stage.
23) Sounds like NES, but I can't place it.
24) Got some Wild ARMs vibes there. WA5? I'm really digging this track.

Dang, I realize I lost a point because I listed two possible games for the Shining Force track. I was so frustrated at myself because I even knew the tune's title -- Lively Town -- but I couldn't remember which big Genesis RPG series it came from. I thought it could have been Phantasy Star. But regardless, I did remember it was the second installment!

(Oh brain. You hang onto the weirdest pieces of incomplete information.)

I'm excited for the possibility of more of these quizzes!

Dang, I realize I lost a point because I listed two possible games for the Shining Force track. I was so frustrated at myself because I even knew the tune's title -- Lively Town -- but I couldn't remember which big Genesis RPG series it came from. I thought it could have been Phantasy Star. But regardless, I did remember it was the second installment!

I actually felt really sorry for you there, but I just couldn't hand out points since I would have to give other people that made similiar mistakes points as well. So I made it easy for myself to only give points to exact answers.

I thought that maybe one or two of the songs would get 0 points, but I never thought that Kuru Kuru Kururin would be one of them. Haven't people played that one or do no one just remember the music? That game carried the launch on the GBA (EU) for me.

Edit: Whaaat, Kuru Kuru Kururin was never released in the US? That is such a shame.

I've played it, but I just didn't remember the music. My buddy did though.

Hahaha, no, don't feel bad for me. That was absolutely the right decision. Mumbling an answer like "It's one of these famous Genesis RPGs with a II after it" is not gonna cut it in a competition.

Done and done. There will be two installments of 30 songs each. I'll have the first one up this evening! I'll probably start a new topic for this though so I can post it in the first post and make it easier to join in!
