Roy amiibo

Just pre-ordered my Roy amiibo. Unfortunately, it's only at Gamestop, and they don't give you a ship to store option, but still, it's gonna be another unicorn. Better grab it quick for those who are interested. The site is moving sluggish (I'm sure half the amiibo collectors in the US are on it right now), but it is up for pre-order.

I went my local store at 4 after work and had no problems. I really doubt this will be hard to come by just cause they haven't had restocks of Robin or Lucina but the Marth restock was plentiful.

The main reason I think this one will be a super rare one is because he's a popular character, and it's a retailer exclusive.

So far the last few retailer exclusives have been fairly plentiful. Dr. Mario, Retro 3-pak, and Falco. I think we may be past the days of excessively rare store exclusives and extreme rarity of certain characters. I know with Lucas (not quite as popular as NESS) was a bit illusive in some stores but game stop had piles of them in my small area at the end of the day.

I'm not saying don't pre-order but I think some folks who forget will be able to get them on day of release.

That's a fair point. Most of the stock issues before (most, not all) were because of the west coast port worker strikes (I whole heartedly supported the port workers, but it was inconvenient). Pre-orders are still available, so I think I may have been wrong about it's impending rarity. We shall see.

The strikes were part of it (making an already poor situation worse) but I think Nintendo was really dragging their heels on offering up a proper amount of supply (just them being extra cautious). It was a bit of a perfect storm of buyers, sellers and demand whipping up the prices of these things. Once Nintendo caught up with reprints and ample supply of newer figures the demand has quieted down so you can get what you need with out lining up before a store opens. Plus most re-sellers have lost interest due to the dwindling margins.
