Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Thanks, it's already set up and most every console and game. I think its part of the problem too much choice. Need to find specific games and series to spend some time with.Exhuminator wrote:In that case your best best is to set up MAME and Kawaks and play the very best 2D fighters there are. Pure arcade emulation. That gives you access to all the arcade classics and Neo Geo ones as well. It doesn't get any better than that.flash1987 wrote:As for preferred console it doesn't matter, its all pretty emulatable.

I give you this information knowing you are only going to be playing the games you bought the actual arcade machines for, because you're an upstanding and legal individual.
Definitely going to give Garou: Mark of the Wolf a look, looks pretty and fluid.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I think Mark of the Wolves may be SNK's best fighter ever. In a lot of ways, it feels more Capcom-ish, if that makes any sense. Fantastic stuff.
If you play the arcade versions, be aware that the input windows tend to be really tight compared to the console releases, at least for something like Street Fighter Alpha 3. I remember the PSX version giving you an option to change those input windows to something a little more pad-friendly. I don't remember the other games being as much an issue.
Some people swear by Street Fighter III: Third Strike as well. Particularly for the parry system. I've never been good at that, though, but until the more recent fighters came out that had higher-res spritework, it was easily the prettiest fighter around, and the animation still holds up to this day. It's amazingly fluid stuff. It also has one of the most eclectic casts of fighters you'll see in a game.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
He asked for 2D games guys. Soul Calibur is freaking awesome but it isn't 2D.
Flash, I'll probably just reiterate what others said, MAME these:
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Street Fighter Alpha 3
King of Fighters 98 (better than Mark of the Wolves IMO)
The Last Blade 2
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R
That's about as good as it gets, without getting into the really obscure stuff.

Oh, this wasn't a suggestion for flash. This was me giving noise shit for laughs.Exhuminator wrote:He asked for 2D games guys. Soul Calibur is freaking awesome but it isn't 2D.
