Forget Abandonia. The best place to get old DOS games that actually work is oldgames.sk . The dude that runs the place is a bro, really nice guy who's helped me out a few times finding super obscure stuff.
He bundles the abandonware up with DOSBox installers ready to go, and even puts manuals up to download on the game's entry page as well. However, he plays it legit, as soon as any of the old games are available on GOG, he removes their downloads from his site.

If you go to the site and it's in bippledyboppity language, be sure to click the tiny "english" button up at the top right. I'm only pointing that out, because it's not very obvious that it's even there.
I've finally been playing through Far Cry 3 on PC. At first I was really experiencing some heavy nausea when playing this title. I know many people have issues with nausea and FPS, but I've played hundreds of FPS and have never had a problem. A friend recommended that I bump the FoV to 90+ in the menu and just like that it wasn't a problem. Just a pro-tip for any playing this one.
The game is gorgeous and the open world nature is well done. Despite the area-opening gameplay type being very similar to Assassin's Creed (you open new areas of map by climbing a radio tower), it doesn't actually feel the same to me for some reason. I've been taking over outposts and doing a couple of side missions here and there. I love the bad guy too, very well realized by the motion-capture and voice acting. He's such a dick and genuinely seems like a lunatic!

I'm just over halfway through Outwars. Anyone familiar with it? As far as I can tell it's quite obscure; the only reason I'm aware of it was it was on a PC Gamer demo disc and the uniqueness of the game stuck in my mind.

I've heard the name. But I don't know anything beyond that.

It does have a first person camera but I haven't tried it out yet. The game is definitely optimized for third person play with how much verticality there is and precision movement.

remember when John Romero made a new Doom level a few months ago and it was like "OMG! I can't believe he really did that!"? Well, now he's made a second one!
