What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
There's a difference between not require the mouse to play and allow mouselook. As I recall Duke 3D can be played without looking up or down thanks to the generous auto-aim. I suppose if you try to shoot a switch that is high up you'd need to manually aim.

Sure, but Duke Nukem 3D was still a 1996 release.

Unless you're getting into number theory on me, 1996 is not before 1996.

That's a bit more what I was looking for, I was going to jokingly mention Chex Quest. Weren't those megawads?Ack wrote:And those are just the big names. There are a lot of lesser known Doom clones like Ken's Labyrinth, Chex Quest, Pathways into Darkness, and so on that don't use the Mouse much or at all. A good rule of thumb is anything pre-1996 will likely not require the mouse to play.
But yeah, like is Blake Stone good? There's some stuff on GOG that looks interesting.

I don't recall if they supported mouselook or not, but the best 1996 shooters I can remember were PowerSlave, Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri, Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, Disrupter on PS1, and Bethesda's Terminator game Skynet.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

YUP! Even though Aliens of Gold is based off the Wolf3d engine, theres enough to keep you engaged.Xeogred wrote:But yeah, like is Blake Stone good?

Terra Nova didn't have mouselook because the mouse was used to aim your weapon within the viewport and to activate all the controls in your suit. But I like that you are aware of that game and how awesome it is.Exhuminator wrote:I don't recall if they supported mouselook or not, but the best 1996 shooters I can remember were PowerSlave, Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri, Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, Disrupter on PS1, and Bethesda's Terminator game Skynet.

I'd play it. Hell, I even wishlisted it at GOG. It's available via Abandonia, but I've heard there are speed issues with it.
