That should quell my fears of not having any backups for failing SNES systems (hoping at least a few models fit in SNES housing, or can be made to fit).

Two things...

1) I have a PAL SNES that I made fit NTSC-U carts. It wasn't too hard.

And 2) If you wanna sell me one of those SFC, PM me! I'm in no rush.

Because the SNES is... wait for it... slow as Ballz.

Joking aside the SNES is more advanced tech over-all but the processor advantage of the Genesis meant it could oftentimes do particular things in software that the SNES needed a hardware-assisted kick to pull off.

A joke doubling as an explanation. I love it :) .

Ziggy, I'll keep you in mind. Again, it will be awhile.
I want to use one system as a dedicated Super Game Boy again (the one I was using totally died on me). Keeping it for parts.
Anything wrong with your system?

It's Ballz, learn 2 spell you noob.

I'm sure he knows that, and was probably just thinking of having tea at the time so it was on his mind. Freudian slips are a bitch. :D

Oh and on that SFC thing. I ended up breaking my ascii snes game pad somewhat recently. What's interesting is that like with the joystick they were given official licensee standing and as such had molds from Nintendo for the controller they did. I salvaged the buttons and rubber pads if I ever needed them. One could make a half baked SFC controller using the things as you can pop the colored buttons into a stock SNES controller as they have the same cut extra tabs on each button to fit the proper hole. I'm strongly considering doing it just for fun.

Dang, I thought those ascii pads were invincible. I own a couple myself. What happened to it, if you don't mind me asking?
I guess even the official SNES controllers break though (have a couple bad ones there too).

Age I got it used. It acted up so I took it by the cord and spun it into the ground so hard it busted open and unplugged the cord from the circuit board. Took the useful parts and trashed the rest. Shame though I liked it since it was a real SNES pad with the turbo etc of the SNES advantage stick.

It wasn't working right and I couldn't repair it so I put it out of its misery and that's upsetting to you?

I'm only upset it decided to fail, but at least I salvaged the parts of any use.
