In the middle of a FFVII run for my blog. A certain flower girl just ran off to the city of the Ancients...

Started a game of Suikoden for the first time, but won't really be able to jump in until I knock out FFVII.

Last week I got an email stating that I'll lose my house in FFXIV because I'm no longer subscribed. I'll be trying 4.0, whenever it comes along, but not holding out much hope... Heavensward was downright awful. In the meantime, Elder Scrolls Online replaced my MMO slot... mostly I just run around stealing things like any other TES game...

I was about 10 hours into The Witcher 3 before life/other games drew me away. It's not that I don't like it, but these massive open-world games can be so daunting... it never feels like I'll have the appropriate amount of time to invest in it (which isn't true of course).

Played a bit more of Tales of Zestiria last night after a long break from it. Tried to battle a big enemy and got a bit frustrated. Every time I would get close to defeating him he would one hit kill me. After about two hours of that, I took a break for about about a month.

I picked it up last night and decided to forgo the frustration and continued on my journey. Story is really starting to pick up now. I liked the characters and the goofy dialogue. I'm starting to grasp the battle system a bit more. I'm not just button mashing as much and trying to string together combos and use other abilities. I still don't understand what Artes can be used in each situation, but I believe that is more me not being able to retain knowledge than the game's explanation of it.

Overall, it's a good game so far. The boss battles are fierce, the story is engaging enough, and the charters are entertaining. I'm about 14 hours in and the game is 30 to 40 hours long. Hopefully I can finish it up soon.

I've finally made it onto the floating Doom Island in Lufia after several more hours of tedium. I cannot wait for this game to be over but I'm determined to beat it now having spent nearly 40 hours plodding through it. I feel like it was enjoyable at some point but Ive long forgotten why thanks to the ridiculous encounter rate.

I try and keep the house around 68-71, anything higher is just gross.

Enjoy that final dungeon music.

About 30 hours into Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, and quite enjoying it. Doing the quest to gather evidence for a trial right now. I really like the fights against the larger monsters, grabbing onto them and stuff, especially griffons. Did the escort quest for mason the other day and it was a gong show fighting four cyclops and a chimera on that journey. =S

A dead body that is dead? What could this be?

Oh lawdy it's KING'S FIELD III.

Here's some dainty moments from my first three hours with this sweet and fluffy RPG:
Image
What this grave robber says perfectly sums up the King's Field series.

Image
I was just wandering around and ran into a ghost is all.

Image
Saw a treasure chest out in the middle of nowhere, finally worked my way to it. Opened it up expecting treasure. Nope, just a pile of useless bones. Oh King's Field, you shouldn't have!

Image
The shopkeepers in King's Field III are upbeat and positive as you would expect from your typical JRPG.

Image
Just a dead tree. It won't kill you horribly if you get near it or anything.

Image
Why fight just one giant red eyed spider? This is King's Field III so you fight THREE.

Image
This little house on the dead prairie turned out to be haunted, by an asshole skeleton who jumped out of a box and slaughtered me.

Image
Look a nice little babbling brook. It's so clear and pristine. But if you step in it, you die instantly.

Image
Found this little nook and explored it. Inside of it, I stepped on a pressure plate that made spears shoot out of the wall, and I was murdered without warning. I only lost half an hour of progress, not too shabby!

Image
I helped put this ol' granny's grandson's spirit to rest, and in return she rewarded me with a map that showed me just how far I haven't gone yet.
I'm having a great time with this wacky little cakewalk.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Man, only yesterday I was looking around and wondering, "hey, I wonder what all those King's Field games are all about! Maybe I oughta give them a try!"

You have convinced me otherwise. Thank you for your sacrifice.

Yeah, I've been on the fence about trying them, but I don't think there's enough hair on my chest for that...

Really wish they'd put the King's Field games up on the PSN store. You'd think they'd try to ride the Souls hype train a bit with bringing those back. Looks like mostly "disc only" on Amazon.

I did start up II and emulated it awhile back, but didn't care the next day. I just can't dig up any motivation for emulation thesedays.

(unless it's Seiken Densetsu 3)
