So from what cd ages is proposing the alpha anthology is the way to go when it comes to playing street fighter alpha series on a home console. I own the street fighter anniversary controller on the ps2 it's not the Saturn controller but it works for me

That's exactly what i'm saying. Look, as far as i know the Saturn versions of the Alpha series are solid efforts and were good ports for their time. Alpha Anthology is not only a good port of entire series conveniently on one disc, but perhaps the best fighting game compilation made for the PS2. It's really the next best thing outside of playing these games on CPSII arcade hardware.
Can't say i'm a fan of those anniversary controllers. Start and Select buttons are inconveniently placed near the face buttons :-(
They are a great novelty controllers tho.

The controller isn't that bad. When ever I'm into fighting games I use that controller. But I see your point when it comes between Saturn and ps2. The alpha Aries or any 2d fighting for ps2 is such better ports of just better games.

If that's what you got and it works for you then that's great. I can deal with using the default PS2 controller, unless I need to play seriously. Then I just resort to using an arcade stick.

I prefer the bigger looking characters of the Saturn versions. Also the remixed soundtracks on Alpha 1 and 2, extra modes on 3, and the Saturn controller. The only thing I miss from the PS2 disc is the dip switches and no loading.

I do want to say that the Saturn model 2 controller imo is the best controller for any fighting game. It just feels so right and comfortably.
About the street fighter games, after thinking last night for a while I own the 2d powerhouse called the sega Saturn. It would be a shame for me as an owner to not own the 2d fighters. Right now as for funding for my games I still need to pay off nightmare for the everdrives for my Genesis and snes so I'm thinking like I said I gotta wait for march or April. I waited this long for a Saturn. Lets just hope I get as lucky as I did last year.

I actually don't. As a matter of fact it's a bit aggravating to me that most (if not all) Capcom 2D arcade ports on Saturn run in their orginally glorious arcade 240p (320p?) resolution, only to mess it all up by having the screen image zoomed in. It hurts everytime I play XvsSF on the system :-(
Tho i'll admit, it's still WAY better than the 480i res that Alpha Anthology runs on, i'll give you that.
Alpha 1 on Anthology has a CPS1 remix option that I actually prefer even more. And i'd agree with you on Alpha 2 IF Capcom allowed the option to select the original CPS2 soundtrack or Remix track much like they did with A1, but they didn't. Anthology is the only home port to carry over the original arcade soundtrack in A2 which I find more authentic. Mind you I was exposed to the game at local arcade halls as a kid.
The only extra modes not carried over to A3 in Anthology are the World Tour Mode and Final Battle Mode. Is that it? Yeah i can live without the latter
Can't argue on the sublime Saturn controller. I'd be more of an issue if I didn't play on stick.
Yes! No loadtimes are wonderful. Even more awesome if you choose the in-game feature to install into your HDD. No loading even when exiting to the main game selection screen and going into whatever game you wanna play from there.
Yes!!! You sir get a +1 in my book.
The dip switch setting is perhaps the single most important feature this collection has. With it, you can literally alter and modify all the games to play in any official revision Capcom released during each of these games respective run on CPS2 arcade. Alpha 1 in particular went throught some damn subtle (yet important) revisions to fix how much of broken game it turned out to be even after its final rev.
I wish more re-releases of old school arcade games had such a feature.

Who the hell is is this "nightmare"?
JK, it's a cool nickname
Agreed about the controller (as most do). One day, I plan to learn playing on a stick (on my bucket list), but I just can't give up the Saturn controllers. Even the original US Saturn pad is pretty awesome IMO.
Of course, I also play Anthology with a Saturn pad via a controller adapter. Works pretty well.

I will play Street Fighter sequels on any system that can candle the game (NES, SMS, C64, need not apply  )
...just another lost soul...
