Should I try the Little Lip Theater in New York?prfsnl_gmr wrote:We actually use the term "viceroy" to describe our leader...and since you own at least twice as many Sakura games as I do, ou have certainly earned the title. I also downloaded Freedom Planet today since it's 30% off on the Wii U eShop. I only played the first level to try it out (Sakura Wars is sucking way more of my attention), but I really enjoy what I played. It's slower paced than Sonic, but the combat is more fun IMO. I think it's a really good balance, I'm actually finding myself enjoying it more than the Genesis Sonic games. Not that I suck any less at it, but I'm having more fun with it.

I loved Freedom Planet. If you go in expecting a Sonic clone, you'll be disappointed, but if you think of it as what it is, a mish-mash of ideas from Sonic, Mega Man X, Gunstar Heroes, and Rocket Knight, you'll probably love it. To me, it feels more like a more experimental game that Sega might have put out on the Saturn back in the day.
I think my favorite bit is that it has a good deal of melee combat. It feels tight and plays extremely well. I'm a little far removed from finishing it, but let me see... Steam review... ah, right, here were are.
Oh, and I picked up Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam today. 3DS is about to get some love again.

Oh, I really enjoy it. It's funny, because I did go into it expecting a Sonic game, and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't. I'm REALLY bad at Sonic games (although I love them), so I was actually pleased that it was a bit slower paced.Sarge wrote:I loved Freedom Planet. Awww, you said the R-word: I'm gonna HAVE to give Freedom Planet a try now. Rocket Knight is just below Dynamite Headdy in games that make me love my Genesis. Contra Hard Corps would be up there too if it weren't so vicously hard XPSarge wrote:I loved Freedom Planet. Can't wait to see what you think of Paper Jam though. I didn't get around to playing M&L Dream Team, but Paper Mario Sticker Star was AWFUL. I'm hoping Intelligent Systems abandoned that horrible system of RPG-ing for this game.

Make sure you use Lilac, then, she's the one with the Rocket Knight-style maneuver. To me, the game feels more balanced around her, but both she and Carol are fun to play as, 'cause Carol gives you the wall-jumping. And rides a motorcycle. Sure, why not?PartridgeSenpai wrote: Awww, you said the R-word: I'm gonna HAVE to give Freedom Planet a try now. Rocket Knight is just below Dynamite Headdy in games that make me love my Genesis. I actually enjoyed Sticker Star a ton. I enjoyed it for what it was, a sort of action-adventure more than anything. It's definitely the least RPG-centric version, but I'm okay with that. Dream Team was okay, but a lot of the humor fell flat for me. It wasn't nearly as funny as Bowser's Inside Story. The new one, which I've barely played, is very much in the Mario & Luigi mold as opposed to the Paper Mario one. The paper bits have been added, but it's an AlphaDream game through and through. At least for that short time I've played. Most reviews say as much, too.

I guess I just really wasn't in the right mindset for Sticker Star, because i was really expecting a return to form like TTYD, and it wasn't that at all, and the lack of any form of leveling up or quirky companions just made it lose any compelling element for me. I'll have to try Dream Team though, provided I can ever find a copy XpSarge wrote:Make sure you use Lilac, then, she's the one with the Rocket Knight-style maneuver. Bowser just needs his own RPG. The Bowser bits were the best part of Bowser's Inside Story! AlphaDream just needs to go full ham and make a Wario & Bowser RPG. I'd play the CRAP outta that.
Also, on topic, I scored Sonic: Dark Brotherhood Chronicles for $6 at the resale store today! No case, but I'm happy just to find it. They finally cleared off the counter that all of the loose DS games sit under, so it was kinda like getting a huge amount of stuff in at once Xp

Re: Games Acquired 2016
Went back to the resale store after a little research since yesterday, and picked up a few more cheap loose DS games.
Dementium: The Ward
Prey The Stars
Custom Robo: Arena
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor
