SF2 on the SNES is what got me into fighters when I was a kid so I had to vote for that, simply a classic game for it's time. But I might look back years from now and think in the end SF3 will become my favorite series.

I like the challenge of the deep gameplay, the parrying system, and most of the character designs. I spent hours at the arcade playing this game over the weekend, against the cpu. Unfortunately I don't play this game consistently enough to be very competitive against friends.

I'd love to see 3S released with online play on XBL/PSN (since I have a Mac and can't 2DF or GGPO it up).

I voted SF3, but II is a close second, along with EX, I don't understand why the EX games get so much hate, the first one is pretty good and the second one is fun too. The 3d graphics are dated but it came out over a decade ago. The combo system is pretty solid and the training mode in the PSX version is also quite good, that's where I actually learned about the timing, got good at pulling off combos and learned to use most of the characters. I wish that sort of training mode was still used on some games.

the original SFII got into street fighter and all fighters in general, but for some reason i love Alpha 2 the best, for some reason it just feels "right" maybe its because i put the most time into that one.

The first time I was impressed with a fighting game was after a session of Street Fighter Alpha 2.

Street Fighter II Turbo for the SNES is probably the best street fighter of all time. I've played many other versions and nothing tops this.
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

So the arcade original doesn't top the SNES version?

SFII was far and away the most influential, and though I like some of the minor innovations that came about in the later developments of the series, nothing consumed as much of my life as Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. It breathed life back into the arcade industry as its popularity grew and I dropped many a quarter into those machines. It was sort of rare moment in arcade gaming where every kid in the neighborhood was at their local arcade, convenient store, etc. playing Street Fighter II. It was popular enough that you actually got to know people just because you all frequented the same machine. People developed reputations for their skill and everyone was struggling to stay top dog ahead of the others. And back then, there weren't a million offshoots. There was Street Fighter II. That's it. So that's what everybody played and you knew everybody who played it. I vote SFII not only for being a great game, but for its innovation and for the cultural phenomenon that it was.

I prefer the vs series. The others may be better games, the depth of Third Strike still gets me, but I am quite competent at the vs games. Not tournament good, but good enough to play casually and not look like an idiot.
