This game is quite Brutal! It took me at least 10 times to beat the very first race in the game. Then I got continually screwed later on in the cup. Since you are racing RC cars, the handling is so finicky. You'll hit the smallest thing and then you'll go careening off the track in a complete 180. Since there is no rubber band for you or the other cars, you have almost instantly lost the race. I like the idea, but it is too precise and impossible for its own good. I think a game like Micro Machines did it way better. It's interesting and I can see why people enjoy it in short bursts, but the actual process of sitting down and playing it for long periods of time is painful. No thanks.
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. It was a fun and moderately challenging game...up to a point. Then it became near impossible to progress. Too bad.

On the Genesis, anything with Bart Simpson in it was a PITA. (Krusty's Super Fun House doesn't count since Bart was just in the background and in the end was a fun and challenging game - one I did actually finish.) The Acclaim Simpsons' games always had horrible controls, mediocre graphics and ridiculous difficulty levels almost from the start.

There are plenty of games I've never finished (many I've never really even started for that matter) and mostly it boils down to difficulty level. And my age I guess, I have a much lower tolerance than I used to for trying a level over and over and over and over...

One I REALLY wanted to play through, and tried repeatedly, was Haunting Ground on PS2. Interesting story, interesting companion, decent graphics, great environment but for all that is holy, give the girl some sort of actually useful weapon! Her best "weapon" is running away and hiding. That becomes almost impossible to do effectively, at least for me. I solved puzzles, I figured out some of the background on the characters but I guess I wasn't a very good hider. I couldn't even make progress after a while with the help of a fairly detailed strategy guide. Hmph.
Ow! My small intestine!

Cosmophony (Wii U)

"About 30 minutes later: "Nope," I said to myself. "Level four is not going to happen." I never got to see the last level, and I probably never will. This game is hard." - Destructoid

"Cosmophony is hard. It’s a game that sits at the harshest, most painfully unforgiving end of the game design spectrum . . . This is currently one of the hardest — if not the hardest — games available on Wii U." - Nintendolife

"Note that this game is designed with more experienced gamers in mind; the difficulty level, while gradual, is still very high." - nintendo.com

"I'm good at video games, but I am never going to be this good." - prfsnl_gmr

.....

Cosmophony is a pretty great game. It has a rad drum-and-bass soundtrack; it controls wonderfully; it has fantastic art direction; it has compelling gameplay; and it has a great price point ($4). It is insanely difficult, however, and I don't think that I have the patience or skill to beat it.

Damn, son. That games look brutal. I'm not usually one for really really hard games (I get pissed off and discouraged easily), but the soundtrack sounds pretty great, so I might have to give it a download.

Give it a shot. It looks and sounds great, and I really like it.

The first level isn't bad, and the second level would be a fine last level in a normal video game. The third level - which I beat last night - would be a great "challenge" level in a normal video game. The fourth level is just silly, however, and I cannot imagine beating the last one.

A few games I've given up on yesterday...

Etrian Odyssey IV (3DS)
Kind of annoying giving up on it since I've already gotten so far, but the game has been throwing these puzzley problems that just end up being too frustrating for me. Plus it seems to get worse later so... I guess I'd rather stop now then get frustrated later.

Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure (Wii)
Speaking of frustrating puzzles... This is game is a lot of just that :| At first they're ok but they ramp up in difficulty pretty quickly. It's too bad since the game seems pretty neat but I can't really play it if I have to look up the solution to every puzzle.

Mugen Souls (PS3)
This game is just kind of bad. I'm sure someone would be able to play and enjoy it, but it's definitely very difficult for me to do that ._. The characters are kind of interesting (at the beginning anyway), but the normal battles are overally complicated and uninteresting, there are a ton of long loading times (even with the install), and plus the framerate off the ship kinda gives me a headache cause it's so choppy. I could go through it if the story was good, but from what I could tell it just gets worse from here so that's not going to happen :|

Mugen Souls is yet another piece of poop cranked out by Compile Heart / NIS. They're like the Otaku LJN.

Can someone explain to me the appeal of the "Nep Nep" series? I'm just not seeing what makes them popular, I suppose. (Unless it's all the otaku bits, in that case... I see it, I just don't care.)

It's like one of those jokes (or "memes", if you will) that is kinda funny at first but then just drags out waaaaay too long for its own good.

I do recommend the first game. It's humorous and the "console war" aspect is well done.
