I agree at least on those since their is a good user base for those games. Its a shame but now the PS TV is branded as a PS4 accessory, I'm using mine for the more expensive PS1 games nowadays and great PSN deals. It's nice they allow you to DL most games on up to 3 systems which I do to preserve my catalog in case of any failures there's no need to be online to play them so it's a safe backup if the servers disappear. Plus no worry of laser problems, damaged disc skippings or multiple disc swapping.
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

I'd like it a lot more if I liked digital games, but - as my game room post shows - I always get a physical copy if I can. My only exceptions are PC games, ridiculously good deals, and games that weren't released physically in the West (Corpse Party, for example; the PSP is region free, but I can't read Japanese, so I pretty much had to download that one).

Do they even bother updating the firmware on vita and/or ps tv anymore? That exploit has been around well longer than that article and it still works now. I think the only fear left would be if someone put a PSN acct on there and allowed the dumb thing to auto update *OR* Sony put a forced update on a future game.

Not often. Latest update was in September which just added some remote play options I think. Before that was June.

I'd be willing to bet that it gets one more "stability" (aka break hacks) update before it's retired.

I like the Vita but I'm pretty certain that 2016 is its final year of any relevance. Not that it's been real relevant for the past few anyway.

I disagree. It's only been relevant for a niche crowd, but for us weeb aficionados, it's remained a very relevant handheld.

Speaking in general demographic terms you're absolutely correct. But, if you're into niche weeb games, the Vita's been extremely relevant. My bank account statements can testify how relevant it's been.

On the other hand, I'm totally okay if 2016 is the last year of Vita games coming to the west. I feel the same way about the 3DS. I like for handhelds and consoles to have five year runs. We're at five years for the 3DS already and the Vita is edging on up.

That's why I'm totally fine with a new Nintendo console next year; that'll hit 5 years for the Wii U, and in my opinion, that means it's about time for a new console. Same reason 7th gen wasn't one of my favorites (with the exception of the Wii which is probably my second favorite console and my all-time favorite to collect for) - it went on too long IMO.

I hate buying hardware. I wish generations would last 20+ years. I wish we were still in the 16-bit era.

Do you wish generations lasted longer, or are you just a retro purist?
