Let's face it. The truth is, if Alan Rickman was in it, he was very likely one of the highlights. He was a remarkable actor, and the craft is worse off for his loss.

I am dreading the possibility of losing Tim Curry as well, since he is 69 this year (just like Bowie and Rickman) and had a stroke in 2012. That would just be the cherry on top of this great shit pie.

Beautifully shot, well made, and very well done overall. I loved this movie, and my Dad got a kick out of a modern Western, so the director did good.

Just got out of it, thought it was very well done though the old lady next to me with all her "Oh!" and "Oh my god!" exclamations, I could have done without her...

Rickman's death really hit me. As Ack said, he was usually the highlight of anything he starred in, making his loss all the more painful. Add to it that the death was due to prolonged illness and... *sigh* It's just been a sad week on the celebrity front. The only solace is that Angus Scrimm seems to have been blessed with a death due to old age (we should all be so lucky.)

Damn, I didn't realize he was that old. Sometimes you just picture an actor as they were in one of your favorite roles and you just kind of forget, I guess.

Honestly, though, the one's I've been dreading for a while are Sean Connery, Maggie Smith and Julie Andrews. They're all over 80 now and I know it's inevitable, but I also know when it happens that it's just going to kill me. Large tears will be shed, I'm not even gonna to lie.

I saw The Revenant earlier this afternoon and it was excellent. It was a gorgeously shot and executed film, though I felt like I needed a shower afterwards. The film was visceral and intense and rarely let up...a must see, in my book.

Just like Birdman and Hurt Locker before it, The Reverent is pure Oscar bait.. But it's a nepotistic extravaganza that doesn't concern me even though I try to attend film festivals whenever I could (mostly lesser known films). The Academy's foreign nominees do grab my attention however.
