I'd say it depends on what games this NES of yours comes with. If it includes Contra, don't get rid of it under any circumstances.

I lean towards the SNES due to the Square and Enix RPG's , Super Mario Kart and Mario World.

I can just get lost forever in those games

I can guarantee you will have the traders remorse. Never trade children its just wrong . Invest in an snes but keep the nes. OR you can sell you regular nes and use the money to buy that duo system that plays NES AND SNES games. That way you have both in one neat little package. But well it just isn't the same.

I agree with this completely,your going to miss the system later on and then your going to buy it again.The games are harder to find the second time around and your going to pay more unless its a common game.

hey guys thanks for the comments i really appreciate it and don't worry after reading all these comments I have now that nostalgic feeling and now knowing how much the old 8bit nes is truly loved by everybody I 'm putting my collecting of xbox and n64 aside and now I'm going to play with power nintendo power. So I take it everybody has a soft spot for the nes

Not really. Well yes, but not as much as I do for my SNES. However all of us do know what it's like to lose a piece of our collections and how difficult it can be to get it back. I may not be a specific console's biggest fan, but I do know that you'll likely miss it at some point.

dont do it!! both are great. if you do this you will def regret giving up your old nes though. with the nes especially, you get used to your system. you know what it takes to make it work properly. you learn all of the little tricks to make the games boot and run properly. if you trade it for an snes, and in the future get another nes, it just wont be the same.

While the SNES is my favorite Nintendo system, I say keep your NES. A SNES can be found relatively cheap. I got mine with Super Mario All-Stars+Super Mario World for only $30.00 on craigslist. Just keep looking everyday and you can find some unbeatable deals. Especially these days with the way things are.
