MadCatz Street Fighter FightPads

Post by Kevman »

I've been debating whether to get an extra controller to play SF4 and other arcade games and fightrs I'll get in the future. The Xbox controller is definitely annoying when trying ot pull off combos.

These look like decent controllers. They're affordable too which is a plus for me because arcade sticks are expensive.

Anyone have these or have thoughts they would like to share?

This might be the most thriftiest means of getting my Street Fighter IV action on. I've read the d-pad is alone is worth the price of admission.

I found out from a local Play n Trade that MadCatz will only be able to fill 10% (Thats Ten Percent) of their original promised stock for any of their fighting sticks or game pads. To be honest I was gunna get this pad just to play the arcade games and Sonic's Ultimate genesis collection on, but the story so far dictates a wait of at least a month or two.

I was surprised to see that the listing for the pad has seemed to been taken off Gamestops site, and all of them back-ordered on Amazon. Eveyone here is pissed as hell, especially all the people who pre-ordered them.
Got: Atari 2600, Atari 7800Pro, Commodore 64, Odyssey 2, Sega Master System, NES, Genesis Models 1-3, Nomad, Game Gear, Sega CD Model 1, Sega 32x, SuperNES, GameBoys, GameBoy Pocket, GBC, Sega Saturn Model 2, GBA, Nintendo 64, Playstation, Sega Dreamcast, Playstation 2 Slim, Nintendo DS Lite, Xbox 360, Gamecube, PS3 Slim

UGH! I was thinking of preordering it, but assumed that they would be such a popular item that everyone would be stocked up and fine. So are madcatz going to fill the orders eventually? Should i bother with a pre-order?

I've pre-ordered a Ken PS3 and a Ken 360 pad from play-asia - hopefully I'll get em eventually :s

in the meantime I think Im ok as Im gonna connect my Saturn pad to my DC convertert, then my DC converter to my V-Twin, then stick the USB into the PS3 - unbelievable this actually works without much lag at all :p

for anyone that didn't get one that wants one....

From GameCyte:
"The story is, new pads will be coming in. They will be replenished though March and April," said Mad Catz' global communications manager Alex Verrey. "Please be patient with us, and don't pay silly prices on eBay. These controllers are not a limited edition, there will be more; they're being made literally right now."

Well I got them at one of the ebgames here. The controller is way much better than the 360. Feels like somebody said like a new saturn pad which is great. I dont know how things work in Ebgames but here in Puerto Rico they still got a lot of those Controllers (Chun-Li, Ken, and Akuma) you can try and call your local store if they can get in contact here and sell it to you.

I recommend them its a great way to play the game if you don't like arcade sticks like me.

Got my fightpads today and wow, what a difference over the crappy 360 d-pad! Rotations actually register consistently! For me the simple test is if I can do Ken/Ryu's Shoryuken over and over. Worked great for me! I'm still waiting for my copy of SFIV so I only was able to test on the SF2 Hyper Fighting for the 360... and a bunch of fighting games on MAME. The d-pad is big and feels floatier than what I'm normally used to but it didn't affect pulling off the usual moves.

I'm just glad the 360 has a decent pad for fighting games now. :D
