Which games?
Mostly looking towards stuff like Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale, possibly Fallout, and similar.

Sure, and my comments weren't really targeted towards you directly, rather towards the general concept itself. There have been many times on this site that I've read people saying "I want to console game but I can't because family TV is tied up all the time". That excuse has just gotten to be a bit of a pet peeve of mine is all.
lmao, reading the replies a few pages back and then this was funny, since I was thinking the same thing.

I'm chalking it up since I'm single and all, but yeah I'll definitely have more than one main setup so multiple parties have access to a few TV's.

alienjesus makes a good argument on space though.

I'm not so sure. I know a guy who had a small HDTV plus a PS3 placed on a tiny TV tray table, and he gamed just fine with that setup. You don't need a full size entertainment center and a 42" HDTV to play consoles.

Ha ha, no. But that pic also proves you don't need much space to console game.

I feel like this conversation is just disregarding that people do what is convenient for them. Sure you *can* game on a TV tray. Sure you *can* have two TV's in the same room and be watching two different shows with headphones. But people are going to do things the way it conveniently fits into their own life. I, personally, don't like the way a mess of consoles and wires looks in the living room. Nor do I find it comfortable to sit on a couch ten feet away from a 50" TV to play games. I prefer to retreat to my own room and sit comfortably to play games up close to a smaller TV in there where I'm away from everything else and not be distracted. And if I want to be in the living room with my wife while I game, I can bring my NGPC or my phone or whatever. This is how I've always been. When we lived in an apartment I still didn't have my consoles hooked up to the living room TV, but rather hooked up to a 21" monitor at my computer desk. Personally I find my gaming to be a solo thing. So "tying up the TV" is a very selfish thing in my head. I know some folks enjoy watching others play games. My wife doesn't. So figuring out a way to play games solo while never needing to compromise meant convenience for me.

TLDR: People are lazy deep down. They will do what is most convenient for themselves.

Yeah, with so many gaming options, that little extra hurdle is enough to almost always say screw it, I will just get on my PC again lol.

The key point is; if you truly want to play consoles you'll find a way.

Just as if you truly want to game as a responsible adult, you'll find a way. It really irks me when I read an adult lamenting they have no time to game or can't game the way they want to. I don't buy it. Those excuses are for folks who have fallen out of the hobby but don't want to admit it to themselves.

I work a full time job with overtime, own my own home, have a kid and a wife, walk my dogs a couple miles every day, exercise every day, cook my own meals, mow my own lawn, maintain three vehicles, do all my own household cleaning, and a plethora of other normal adult responsibilities and chores*, but I can still manage to play console games as I wish and finish RPGs even. And that is not at the expense of spending quality time with my family either. Time management, prioritizing, and sleep deprivation are the keys.

*My wife does helps with some these, not saying I do all of it myself. But she works later hours than me, so I do a lot of it myself.

I disagree. In the past few months I've had less time for games as I've had a lot more on my plate. Some of this is that even if I have free time, I might be (mentally) exhausted and something like gaming requires more brain power that I can give. There have been times recently that I'd like to be gaming more, but either don't have the time or don't have the mental energy.

I agree. Unfortunately prioritizing means that sometimes you have to do stuff you DON'T want to do instead of doing stuff you DO want to do (like play games).

As far as the sleep deprivation goes, I just can't do it. I run on 6-7 hrs of sleep during the week, and that's really my limit. If I get any less I feel physically sick the next day. Doesn't work for me.
