You don't wanna play TitS without playing the previous Legend of Heroes entries first.

But you don't wanna play Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes without first hitting up the original Dragon Slayer. Hope your PC-88 is hooked up.

Seriously though, TitS is kewl but I hopes you enjoy reading.

I've gotten through a few visual novels in the years so if I start the game with the mind set that it's a visual novel with RPG elements I'm sure I will like it. Will probably start it up later today.

Regarding the difficulty level, do you guys have any recommendation there? Normally in RPGs the side quests and stuff just doesn't do it for me since the rewards just isn't worth the time. But if the game is somewhat hard it's much more fun to do them. I like hard games but still don't want to reset every now and then because the game is unfair since it's already a long run, still thinking about playing on hard.

Have never thought about the abbreviation btw, TitS...

OMG Lumines is one those games that when I get into it my eyes just gloss over and I go into a trance and lose all understanding of time and space.

It hasn't quite clicked yet, even though it has in the past. For some reason I keep trying to play it like it's Tetris. #blocksnotlines

I know the puzzle game trance very well. Last time it happened I was playing Columns for hours.

Yeah, the acronym is why I call it Trails most of the time, and if clarification is needed, then FC or SC. That's complicated a bit with Trails of Cold Steel, but then, the acronym doesn't skew towards female anatomy. ;)

As far as sidequests go, if you try to complete as many of the quests as you can, you'll max out your Bracer rank pretty easily. Doing a 100% run, though, takes significantly more investment, and will likely have to be made with a walkthrough on hand. The reward, honestly, isn't worth it. I'd say just play normally and enjoy, but be sure to poke around a bit to find some optional quests, and keep an eye on the quest board. They're worth doing because they typically add a fair amount of characterization to the characters.

Anyway, some of the hidden quest windows are ridiculously small. The ultimate weapon quest (getting all the Carnelia books) is completely insane, with several instances where you can miss one of the books just by advancing a single scene. What up with that, Falcom?

Sarge: I will definitely continue that trend and go with Trails FC, SC and so on. :)

Anyway, I've finally started to play the game and so far I'm really enjoying it. I'm playing on the Hard difficulty in a casual manner, that is, no guides or anything like that. Just trying to get as much as I can from the story, doing most side quests but without crying if I miss anything since this isn't any 100% run.

Altough no big events have happened so far (I'm only a few hours into the prologue) I'm still quite engaged in the story. I totally get why all of you said that it's a slow cooker since I can imagine a lot of people would already have quit by now if they weren't trying to soak the whole atmosphere that the game is trying to build up. Looking forward to where this is going!

Magical Drop 2 on Neo Geo MVS, as per the request of my daughter (she thinks the game itself is called "Neo Geo"). I'd like to collect the whole series someday, fun games!
