Because Microsoft is hesitant to touch anything with SafeDisc or SecuROM anymore since they dropped support for it in Windows 10. But rumor has it that Microsoft and GOG are back in talks. Come on Freelancer.

I feel like a certain subset of the gaming community doesn't actually like games and instead like to sit in front of their screen looking for any and all graphical flaws and performance issues so they can complain about it on the internet.

I get it, some people are more sensitive to things like framerate and FOV than others. I'm not immune to noticing some of that stuff. Screen tearing can be the worst. But the way some people fixate on the most minimal problems seems insane.

Did you know that every 60 frames one frame is a duplicate in Mario Kart 8? I sure didn't. I thought it was a full 60 frames per second. But apparently that single duplicate frame makes it stutter to the point of being unplayable! That one frame man.

Then again that might just be because I browse NeoGaf, the best source of gaming news and ridiculous whining by so called experts.

God, I can't stand people like that. People who fixate more on the visuals than the gameplay are awful. I mean, I get it, to a certain extent, a game needs to look good and smooth (looking at you, Farcry Vengeance for Wii), but in my opinion, real gamers will take gameplay first, and like you said, those who put graphical perfection first probably don't even play many games. Take Call of Duty 4, for example. In general, I think that's an EXTREMELY "okay" game (I only really play the campaigns, so keep that context in mind), but I played through it on both 360 and Wii. I MUCH preferred it on Wii despite the watered down features and severely downgraded graphics. Why? I think the gameplay was better with motion controls. I got SO much shit for having that opinion in high school, though, because my friends were super graphics whores.

After you have spent some time with the arcade version, that statement is actually true.

I can't tell if that's sarcastic....but the Vectrex is the god-console. If there is a certain gaming "master race," it's the Vectrex Master Race.

I seriously need to bring a list next time I hit up Vintage Stock or similar trade in stores haha. I always end up looking over my Amazon wishlist shortly after coming back and see that I probably overlooked a few good finds and deals.

Has anyone heard of or purchased any games from the Zoom Platform? Apparently the company that runs this service sanctioned a full PC remake/update of Killing Time on the 3DO that is available here. I was only interested because it also has I of the Dragon for sale, a game I used to play a lot of on the Gametap streaming service. Otherwise, it has games that are easily attainable on GOG or Steam. They claim to be be 100% DRM-free, but is it like Desura or Steam that you need to have a client to run games?

I dunno how some of you doods can play video games in such long stretches. I can't do it. I can't do anything for an extended period. I get antsy, bored, fidgety, distracted...... On a good evening I may be allotted three hours of "bullshit time." But I always end up playing video games for maybe 60-90 minutes. I spent the rest of the time practicing music and/or exercising and/or reading and/or whatever.
