Been playing more Grim Dawn. The atmosphere in this game is great and it's worth reading all of the flavor text and dialogue. There is a Lovecraftian element to the bad guys in the game too, which is pretty cool.

The biggest complaint that I have is the class system. There are almost TOO many choices. You aren't restricted to a single class, but can actually combine any two classes that you want and mix and match abilities freely. It's pretty cool but it's also kind of overwhelming because it is certainly possible to screw it up and gimp your character. Also, the game itself provides basically zero guidance as to what would be a good idea vs. a bad idea. Hardcore ARPG people will love this aspect but, as a gamer with less time than he used to have, theorycrafting isn't always a fun way to spend my precious gaming hours.

The official forums are helpful to read though. I am playing a "battlemage" (read: grimdark paladin basically) and enjoying the game itself though.

The dust has settled on the steam sale and I came out pretty unscathed, spending about $30 and getting a bevy of titles like kings quest, roundabout, transistor and hand of fate.

The one I really wanted to play right away was hand of fate, a deck building, rogue like action rpg. How the game works is you set up 2 decks. The first is the encounter deck which determines what you experience in the game. The second deck is the equipment deck that you will use in combat.

Each dungeon is a series of encounter cards laid out in a pattern and you explore and reveal the cards. Each card has a story progression and series of choices for you to take that determine your outcome. Combat is done in a style like the batman arkham games, but the real draw is collecting cards and setting up a unique set of situations.

I love the game. I am about half way through the man storyline and this heavily reminds me of a game my brothers made up when I was 4 years old. We would use skip-Bo cards that each had a unique event that would happen and they were laid out in patterns just like hand of fate. Combat was just like War with a regular deck of cards.

Oh the nostalgia.

I was playing a lot of Mad Max. For fans of sandbox games it probably won't be intensely impressive but for fans of Mad Max it's quite a bit of fun and it's really pretty and runs perfectly on my PC. The story ending is pretty incredible as well. I've just about run out of things to do but it's one of the few games I've actually felt compelled to 100% in a while just because I enjoy cruising around the wasteland.

I guess that stuff just doesn't bother me as much as some people. I remember it being an issue in Twilight Princess with the rupees, but Nintendo's been doing this for a while now (see Link's Awakening, for example).

I still thought Fi was funny. :(

I'm not saying it's a game breaker here, but I sure hope Nintendo reduces the patronizing significantly for the Wii U Zelda.

I just hope that the game comes out on the Wii U at this point. :P

I liked Fi a lot myself. Not bad.

Honestly, never really got the Navi hate until the internet became a thing. Don't get lost, don't suck, and skip Navi's dialogue... no more problems? lol

If anything, the wolf gimmick in Twilight Princess was something that bugged me, and thankfully it pretty much stopped being a thing in the second half of the game when it continually got better to me.

I like Fi's character design and her voice snippets sound cool. I don't even mind her random ice skating. But compared to Midna's personality Fi is boring, and she's even more condescending than Navi was. Hey Nintendo, maybe we don't need a tag along help dispenser next time?

I might be the only person who thought being a wolf in Twilight Princess was cool. But I also think Twilight Princess is underrated. It straight kicks the piss out of Wind Wanker and is far less clunky than Ocarina of Time.

If we're talking characters, yeah Midna was pretty cool.

Everything is better than Wind Waker though. :P
