So is there any PS1 wrestling game that holds a candle to No Mercy for N64's character creator? I ended up getting the game & expansion pack for my friend back in early 2014 based on the suggestions given here, and we've played it several times. It is really good! What's the equivalent for PS1?

There's nothing that sniffs the n64 games but I did enjoy the Acclaim WWF games for ps1 for what they were (prior to Aki getting the license then).

Wcw nitro (and then Thunder) is terrible but WCW vs the World is sneaky underrated.

Oh yeah, wasn't including the two Smackdown titles. Once the AKI WWF games happened I never switched back to ps1.

I've since procured both and should try to give them time this year.

That's because it was developed by AKI Corporation's predecessor...

I can only remember playing one wrestling game on the PS1 as a kid. I THINK it was Wrestlemania, but I can't say for sure. Also, and it's a little off topic, but I'm really enjoying The Emperor's New Groove right now. Though that's probably also because I played it when it first released.

All that talk of street fighter the last couple of days and a copy shows up. Can't wait

Was going through my old catalog of games over the weekend as i'm trying to gather a decent portion of some of my older games ready for the Retro Gaming Expo coming up in my area, and I find this little guilty pleasure of mine. I put so much time into this fighter as a teen, mostly due to its rather unique (at the time) single player story mode. Wonderful presentation, nearly non-existent learning curve, and some great tunes. One of the most underrated fighter on the system next to Destrega imo.

How bout that, was just wondering about that game yesterday. Saw it somewhere online and had no clue what it was. Might have to dig a little deeper.
