Anyone else hate how much the SNES controllers squeak? Or do I just grip my controllers too tight...
BrandonPerton wrote:I love the Super Nintendo - The 16 Bit graphics I enjoy, I feel the PS1 & N64 era the graphic are horrible today. I don't have the time to sit and play Secret of Mana or Soul Blazer from start to finish. I have been playing Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Sunset Riders, R-Type III etc. I do agree the eBay sellers are making the prices get to expensive if you ask me.
For sure, 16 bit graphics aged a LOT better than the primitive 3D games on N64 and PS1. N64 is blurry, and PS1 is choppy.

I hear ya, I often try and seek out "pick up and play" games like Zombies. Games that can be played in short bursts, or long sessions if time allows, and be put down for months but easily picked back up. I only play a couple 30+ hour games a year, if that many.

eBay prices of retro games is what really drove me to start using flash carts more, especially for the SNES. I'll still buy carts, but only when the going price isn't ridiculous. Also, they'll let you play some awesome stuff like this...

You're gripping them far too tight and twisting as you play. You should stop doing that.

I know they're making the creaking noise because I'm twisting them. Thing is, no other controller I own does this... Just SNES ones.

So I beat super metroid for the first time ever this past weekend. And it was good but not great. Some parts of the game felt like a slog to me and also some of the maneuvers you have to make to find secrets are a little ridiculous. But overall it was a good experience and I can see myself doing it again soon.

I should have translated reproduction cartridges of the three SNES Fire Emblem games coming in the mail this week. I normally don't care for reproductions of games that got an official release, but I'm more relaxed about translations, especially with a series I love as much as Fire Emblem.

Have you played them on emulator before?

I thought only Monshou no Nazo was fully translated.

I've read that even the best Seisen no Keifu patch was only 80% complete?

And the best Thracia patch lists it as "still needs a lot of work" ( http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=thracia776 ). RHDN lists that one as "So far, the patch translates dialogue up to Chapter 5" ( http://www.romhacking.net/translations/881/ ).

I don't do emulators. It feels so...artificial.

From whay i understand, they're mostly translated, and there scripts to help with the untranslated parts.

The Seisen patches are pretty well done; the one I've been using doesn't have image text translated (opening and ending, chapter titles) but everything else seems to be in place.

If you don't do emulators then you're in for a treat when you get to play Seisen; I really wish they'd bring back some of the larger strategy stuff that the game does.

I fully expect there to be parts that aren't translated, but if I can at least get the basics of the battle menu, I'll be content.
