Stores overbuy on these big time - Target had Trap Team Starter Packs for Wii for $20 last I was in there. Best Buy also has them hugely discounted from day 1 prices.

I'll probably do that then. I have a $10 off coupon for the Trap Team starter pack that I think we got from McDonalds when they were doing the Happy Meal Skylanders. I looked at Wal-Mart and Gamestop this weekend but they still had them priced at $50+. I'll check Target and Best Buy the next time I am near one. Thanks for the tip!

I had my sister check the nearest Best Buy and Target since she works close to them. $60 and $40 respectively for the Wii version. I'm not in a rush because we aren't going to give him all the Skylanders and games at Christmas. I'll just keep an eye out for a good deal online and at brick & mortar stores. I'm sure I can get it for under $20 if I am patient. Thanks again for the suggestions!

This has been a great series that both my son and I enjoy playing together. The level design and character improvements have really made the game more enjoyable(And the last 2 were great). Yes it is a costly game... but you do not need to own every character to finish the story(This is a collectors dream otherwise). To access all content of the game- get a character of each element if you don't have them already. Get a swap character of each skill(Bounce, Speed, Climb, Dig, Sneak, Rocket, and Teleport). at least one Giant.

So my wife just got skylanders and giants and speed racer from a guy at work. He didn't have the portals or the guys. Any recommendations for the two games like do I just use one portal for everyone and both games and what are good characters and should I buy the new games and characters to use the two games I have

Try out what you have and see if you like it before you dive in. That can be a money pit.

Well the Skylanders for Christmas went over gangbusters for my son. He is loving it. "Santa" gave him Spyro's Adventures plus 6 figures and his grandparents got him the Trap Team starter pack. My sister also gave him some Skylanders that she no longer wanted so that got him up to twelve figures. Later this month is his my son's birthday and we are going to give him the Giants game and around 6 more figures.

We've also been snatching up clearance Skylanders at Walmart for the past month and have gotten some really great deals. Trap Master characters for $2.50 and Swap Force adventure packs for $7. We've got so many extra figures now that my wife and I have discussed ways he can earn a Skylander throughout the year via chores and whatnot. We've got such a stockpile that Christmas for next year is probably covered and we haven't even got any Superchargers yet.

And though this doesn't really help me at the moment, Gamestop is having a decent sale on the 9th if you are into Superchargers now. They will also have the Nintendo exclusive Skylander/amiibos available to purchase outside of the starter packs. http://www.gamestop.com/gs/pages/events ... ersDay1-9/
