It's pretty awesome, definitely one of the best of its kind. Its brilliance really shines through when you try getting the best rankings since it requires not just a memorization of the levels but a really mastery of all of the game's mechanics. Can get frustrating at times though. The game has tons of bonus content. Artistically, the game looks and sounds wonderful too. It's really a classy, highly polished effort

I've always considered Panzer Dragoon Orta, Sin and Punishment and Starfox 64 my favorite rail shooters. I don't consider myself an expert on the genre though

Yeah it probably is one of the best rail shooters. Mainly I like it because they were FINALLY able to make a Panzer Dragoon game live up to their concept art.

I enjoyed (and sucked at) the demo I tried when it came out. The best of the rail shooters but PDS is best of series

The first game was the reason I bought a Saturn in the first place, although Zwei was out when I finally got round to buying one and I never got the original game until recently.

PDS was the best of the series and watching the cut scenes in Orta is making me consider buying it again. I sold it back in the day when games were worthless as soon as the next generation showed up, a big mistake really. It always seemed to expensive for a game that I've cleared several times but now I own every other game in the series it seems like I should save my money and fill the gap back up again.

I read that Orta has the original game as an unlockable, is this a direct copy of the saturn release or does it run at a higher rez/framerate? that would be cool if it did

Panzer Dragoon Orta went totally sickhouse on the rail shooter genre. Blended a little depth with the 3 different classes, and leveling each, offering a unique (and necessary) playstyle for each dragon. I had never played any of the previous panzer dragoon games before playing orta, but it was actually because of pdo that I even ever got into the saturn. I was interested in playing saga after hearing all the hype about it, and always being interested in the other games. Something about orta though really was amazing, the epic bosses, steep challenge, and amazing graphics really added up to a great package.

I believe the version of the original panzer dragoon unlockable on Orta is actually a port of the PC version of the game. The saturn is very tough to emulate, so I believe sega had to use their pc build of the game to play on the xbox (which is essentially a low end pc any way). I'm not 100% on this but I'm fairly certain I read it on a gamefaqs faq for Orta...

I dig it too. I never had a Saturn so I missed out on the previous Panzer Dragoons.

Picked it up for $5 a few months ago. Nice game.

I never had the Saturn Panzer Dragoon games, but did play the first on briefly once at a friend's house. I did purchase Panzer Dragoon Orta, and still maintain it as a prized piece of my game collection. Thankfully, it is backwards compatible with the Xbox 360, so I still enjoy it to this day.

I gave my original Xbox to my dad a few years ago when I picked up an Xbox 360. He liked the FPS games I had on the console, so I let him keep most of those. I just took the games that I knew he had no interest in that were backwards compatible with my new 360. Games such as MegaMan Anniversary Collection, Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, Sonic Mega Collection Plus, Guilty Gear X2, Dead or Alive 1,2 & 3, Fable: The Lost Chapters, Ninja Gaiden Black, Soul Caliber II, Ultimate Spiderman, and of course, Panzer Dragoon Orta. The rest only worked with original Xbox, so I let him hold onto those. Although I did end up re-purchasing Halo and Halo 2, the latter so I had something to play on Xbox Live with him from time to time.
