WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
Re: WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
I only have a few Genesis games, but I happen to have a 6 button pad. That would make those hot keys available there too (DUH!) Guess my problem's solved!

Good point, I have one too I got recently locally, but what mine came with being a launch system was the original 3 button controllers. I'm not sure I even have a game that uses all 6.

Had lots of fun today, pulled out a SNES cart (one hand holding the unit and the other hand on the side of the cart), came out fairly easy (by Retron 5 standards) and two of the pins from the cart reader popped out.
Can't even explain how pissed off I am, no idea if there are repairs for this or if it just became a Retron 4.

If you have the receipt still or did the online warranty check in it has a 1yr replacement on it. I had to use it for my original model version that starting crapping out on random NES titles. I in the end ended up with the black (had gray, like black more) version of it being their final 2nd model of it and it has been rock solid. From what I was told back then was the pins have all be replaced with better stronger ones which are a little less grippy, top cart slot part doesn't bend anymore as it's solid(used to dent in a lot as it was flimsy) and they included controller port covers (and the ports were improved and stronger attached.)
It's not a perfect product, there's no denying that, but what they revised it to be from what it was when it came out is much more superior all around.

I have the revision 2 (it came with the caps for the controller ports, etc).
I purchased it off a re-seller here in a Australia, doubt they would honor a warranty here anyhow. Pain in the ass, doubt I can repair it, but I will have a crack at it in the future when I can be bothered.

My original version is still trucking with no real complaints. Their quality control must be really hit and miss.
Also what's this about new firmware? There isn't anything on their site.

Anyone heard anything recently about the possibility of a Game Gear adapter being released for it. Can't seem to find anything past the news from last July

No news from Hyperkin.
In the meanwhile, there's a press release saying that the retro-freak is getting a Gamegear adapter.

I heard about that, my thing is that's a very asian centric system with some questionable design things with it too. I get having no NES port, but kind of a problem if you want it in a non Famicom served area (ie: NES.) And then they charge you for all these add-on devices, the annoying one being able to use your own controllers. Over at DP one owner has their system overheat because they were using the module because the cooling vents are where it gets attached basically burying it. A more ventilated area would help things, but if you were in a warm area (like in a media shelf, not counter top) it causes it to have problems.
