Now I could really go for a Whatchamacallit.

They're not everywhere. Convenience stores are pretty good about stocking them but not so much grocery stores (at least the section at check out).Ziggy587 wrote:I haven't seen those around since I was in middle school. I didn't even realize they still existed.MrPopo wrote:Whatchamacallit.

Dude, I help moderate a retro gaming forum. If you think I have a problem with older games OR re-releases, you're kidding yourself.Ziggy587 wrote:Honestly, I don't understand how any can feel like $20 is too much for this game. You're looking at it wrong if you think you're paying $20 for a 20 year old game. A team of people took the PC game, improved it significantly, and made it so it can run on modern machines. This isn't just a re-release of the same game sold in 1997. Work was put into it, and those people have to be paid.marurun wrote:Not sure how I feel about a $20 price tag. Perhaps $15 would be more appropriate. So I guess that means I'm part of the problem ; )

Hmm, I'll take a look through the settings again. Maybe it isn't something obvious.Kidpanda wrote:This review makes it seem that the Fog control is in it somewhere.

I never said that. I never even implied it.marurun wrote:Dude, I help moderate a retro gaming forum. If you think I have a problem with older games OR re-releases, you're kidding yourself.
So the problem is that because everyone is so use to getting ~4 games for $20 on Steam and GoG, 1 game for $20 is just absurd?marurun wrote:The problem isn't that I don't think the people who did the port and updated the code deserve to be paid. The problem is that $20 can get you quite a lot of goodness on GOG or Steam these days, and regardless of how much work was put into the PC port of Turok, it's up against those other options. My off-the-cuff estimate is that at $20 MSRP Turok is a tough sell. As with many originally older games, there will be some nostalgic folks who grew up playing the title and must have it, but for the wider audience, I'm not sure it's a $20 game.
So you never played Turok? Watch the video link I posted in the OP, you tell me then if you don't think it's a $20 game. Let me know if I have rose tinted glasses on.marurun wrote:I didn't grow up with an N64, and without those rose-colored lenses, I'm not seeing $20 of fun.

I have the N64 and PS2 versions. The DRM free Gog version looks appealing over Steam, maybe if the game dropped below ten bucks worth a 3rd purchase?Tanooki wrote:I still have it on n64 and used it lately. In all fairness the fog being cut is a problem. Yes n64 needed it but being a game in a jungle and swamp environment it made sense to be there more than not. I hope there is an option for it. I don't own it on pc yet as $20 is too much when I already have it but when its at least half off on gog I'll snapcit up.
