For the average gamer, I don't think PDS is worth the purchase price, but if you're a big fan of JRPGs or a big fan of the Saturn, I think it is, steep a price though it may be.

agreed - and i thought it was fantastic, ran through it this year after finally beating 1 & Zwei, just a lovely game with a cool engine too

i personally didn't want to pay $200 for a single game, but found a dude years ago who'd do $225 shipped & tossed in the disc for Shining Force CD...came in really great shape too, no regrets. but seeing it go for around $400 is insane

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the US Saturn pad wasn't really all that bad. The shoulder buttons were highly problematic, but the pad was actually pretty good. The shape of the pad wasn't great, but the pad and buttons were just fine, and even good enough for some fighters, so I didn't see much to argue about.

finally found Shining Force III for a decent price, woo hoo! gonna use ebay bucks on Silhouette Mirage & bow out again for a while, prices are all around not good. i'dve loved to have picked up some goofy shit like Three Dirty Dwarves for $20 or so, but even stuff like that got jacked up.

in other news, I should track down Mansion of Hidden Souls sometime - despite having the same name as the Sega-CD one i rented in the day, it's apparently a sequel!

It should be jacked up in price. It's actually a pretty rocking game, especially multiplayer. It is not a bargain bin title in the quality department.

Virtua Fighter 2 (or the series in general) has never fully clicked with me. Though I appreciate it a lot. Which is to say that I like stuff like Fighters Megamix and Fighting Vipers more than VF proper. But I also think that the simplicity of - and therefor the difficulty in mastering - VF is fascinating.

It seems to me that playing Virtua Fighter *well* is an art. Or a science. Have you ever really looked at a full move-list? I went through the move-list for VF2 and it made my head spin. This is a game with only 3 buttons, right? Punch, Kick and Block. But it's PAGES of moves. Everything is so deep and intricate. It's really interesting to me.

Though I'm terrible. I couldn't get past the 3rd Stage on a single credit... in fairness I only played for about a half-hour. But if anyone's got any 'get gud' pointers, lemme know.

Sarah is probably the easiest character to start with. Focus your energy on her at first. That might help, some. Stick to mastering a "core" move set, which is to say, find the easy and effective moves and get those down. Sarah's best stuff is her basics.
