No worries, it looks as though you are in good company.

I never knew antiperspirant was so frowned upon. I must not be in the know about pit sweat or something.

Speed Stick Regular Deodorant. It is not an antiperspirant. It doesn't smell like shit. It's the most plainest and simplest deodorant, and it effectively blocks BO.

This, I switched two years ago, and my underarms never itch anymore.

Looks like the Ultramax is also an antiperspirant so it's off my list. Arm & Hammer does have an "Essentials" deodorant that looks decent, though. An unscented one, even. I've never see them in stores around here, though.

I guess the Dove prodcuts are an antiperspirant? Guess I don't really know what the difference is, other than my experience with them being a lot better than with Speedstick.

Antiperspirants try to actually stop, or reduce, the amount of sweating you do, and are typically aluminum-based. They usually include deodorant ingredients as well. Deodorants simply attempt to combat bacterial growth and introduce a pleasant scent.

Antiperspirants don't do much for me in terms of limiting my sweating, and they actually don't usually make me stink much less. Plain deodorant is most effective for me, so far.

I had the same problem with some other brands, but since I've switched to Speed Stik I haven't used any other - whatever green color I grab while walking by, probably tried all the flavours but never noticed any deficiencies in any of them.
Aluminum in Old Spice & others - bad (for me)
Zinc - okay (for me)

There have been studies that show the aluminum compounds that are used to block sweat glands can cause cancer or Alzheimer's disease. Then there are also studies that say those studies are inconclusive or wrong.

I always use Irish Spring original deodorant. Smells like Irish Spring soap.

Hm. Either way, for me, anti-perspirants (or at least some ingredients intended to be) have basically the opposite effect. I always assumed I just sweat a lot, and maybe needed higher strength stuff...but swapping to deodorant only resulted in staying dry unless I was working up a sweat in general. On top of that, no more ruining shirts with pit stains.
Only realized it when I accidentally grabbed the deodorant instead of antiperspirant + deodorant version of something, but I've heard similar things from others since (my dad for instance).

Old Spice seems to offer both versions of a lot of their products, so, I just tend to buy a clear stick version of one of theirs.
