Ok so i bought 2 original 60 gig model PS3, one of them has a small problem that i beleive will end up killing it.
So I start up the system just fine, i can browse the XMB and play games fine, then i pop in a new game and it crashes!!!! the blinking red light shows i reset the system it boots fine again, try the game again and crashes! I reset the system and game again and it plays fine for hours on end.
a few days later, no problems since the first one, so i open the web browser and after loading my home page the ps3 CRASHES AGAIN, no biggie i just reset the system AGAIN, then it doesnt give me problems for another day or two, this has been happening for about 3 weeks, what gives?
from videos ive seen on you tube, there are 3 conclusions i can think of
1. bad hard drive - ive read that if a systems hard drive is somewhat corrupt it will cause the system to fail time to time
2. overheat - but im sure its not overheating, since sometimes this happens right as i boot the game disc from start up, no way it got that hot so quick
3. bluray drive - ive seen videos of people's ps3's having problems loading games because their bluray drive was fucked up
so anyone got any other ideas on what my problem could be? bad power suppy maybe???
any solutions?

Re: PS3 Problem!
Clean the lens of the disc drive. Format your hard drive. Mabe try another hard drive that you know works if formatting doesnt work.
Older. Not wiser.

Re: PS3 Problem!
id do the hard drive format first or replace it. clean the lens with a disc dr that has the brush on the disc. then maybe look into some kind of local repair shop or call sony and see if the thing is under warranty by any crazy chance.
Re: PS3 Problem!
i did a format on the harddrive last night, hopefully this solves my problem untill i upgrade to something bigger.
Re: PS3 Problem!
guess what guys i tried using the web browser again and it failed and crashed my system 3 times in a row? and that was after my 4 hour disk format, any other ideas????
Re: PS3 Problem!
I think you might just have a bad hard drive. Did it fall from standing vertical to horizontal? I know it sounds impossible, but I know a guy that had that happen while it was running and it toasted his hard drive too.
